Uppers are made of premium leather to withstand high-impact exercise and outlast lesser shoes. Abzorb® technology in the heels and forefeet soak up shock with every stride. Injection-molded EVA midsoles lend additional cushioning and internal shanks add support. The nonmarking, ground-gripping rubber outsoles provide traction everywhere from the basketball court to the running track, making these shoes a good choice when your active time involves a variety of activities. great casual shoes

I have been using these shoes for years, and have had several pairs over time. Each time I need casual shoes I seem to come back to these. They are very comfortable and affordable, and seem to last very good. The only down-side to them is that they are not water resistant and will get your feet wet in tall wet grass.

My bleeding feet: NB 623 is NOT like the old 621

I bought these because thew uppers looked the same as the old 621 model (not the 621 that Cabela's currently carries). The old 621 was one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. This 623, on the other hand, was pure torture. My heels were rubbed raw. Even worse, there's a hard, almost sharp-edged seam that protrudes into the toe area right where my little toe needs to be. Talk about rubbing -- my toes were actually bleeding before I stopped wearing them.
One minor annoying thing is that the laces are about a foot and a half too long, like most New Balance products.
Not a good experience!
