Worked like a charm. I had previously had some bad luck with fixed blades not stopping those tough turkeys. This one did the trick. It broke the wing bone and still went in 6 inches. Bent the blades a little but can easily replace them.
Long time fixed broadhead user that figured that I would try a mech on spring turkeys. True to claims of field point accuracy. Good penetration. Looking forward to using these this fall on black bear and white tails. Only thing that could be seen as a negative is that the blades have a tendency to bend but that's the reason they sell replacements. Be sure to use the washers included. Good head overall and will be my "go to head" for a while.
I am an avid bowhunter. Been bowhunting for 23 years and hunt almost exclusively to feed my family. I need a dependable, long-lasting, deadly broadhead. I have tried just about every type/make of broadhead on the market. Without a doubt, these broadheads are the best I have used. PERIOD. I have been using Hammerhead broadheads for many years now. I won't use anything else. They are no different than any other broadhead IF you hit the deer in the vitals. A deer hit in the vitals, with any point, will kill the deer. BUT, what about those misplaced shots? The shots you took too quickly? These broadheads do the job. PERIOD. They leave MASSIVE entry and exit holes. I have shot several deer in the gut area and have always retrieved them, often times in short order. No broadhead will go through the thick part of the shoulder but these do a good job penetrating that area, as well as going through the thin part, ribs, etc. I usually get pass through shots and I shoot only 60 lbs.
Since the blades are so large, they are prone to get bent up (but what blade doesn't?), but they can also be replaced or fixed with a little tweaking. I don't think I've ever had a broken blade. I've used one broadhead on up to 7 deer before it was unusable. The only "negative" of these are that after shooting a deer, often times the blades will break the washers and then dig into your arrow inserts, leaving marks, or ruining your arrows. I fixed this problem by going to a local hardware store and buying some metric lockwashers. The lockwashers are thicker and more durable than the washers that come with the broadheads. This did not change the flight of my arrow at all. Very cheap fix and it saves me money in the long run on more arrows.
I bought these for my brother and when he shot a deer with them, in the gut area, he was SHOCKED at what he saw and how quickly the deer died. To say the least, he only uses Hammerheads now!
I HIGHLY recommend these broadheads and will not shoot anything else. GREAT PRODUCT!
If they work as great as they look then these should be amazing!! Package includes 3 complete heads with washers and extra rubber bands. Use caution when removing the clear pastic tubes placed just behind the tips. Just by chance I noticed the note on the backside of the insert to "Remove Clear Tube Prior To Use".
