I used this successfully my first tournament outing to retrieve a crankbait twice. I wish it was a little heavier but it did work both times I called upon using it. I am just used to a heavier plug knocker.

The small footprint is handy too. With the all-in-one design it is very compact yet works well. It is just hard to know you are making contact due to the lighter weight.
