This spacious storage box is just what you need to keep your on-the-trail necessities where you can get to them in a hurry. Constructed of weatherproof polyethylene, it's equipped with U-bolts to secure it to the rack. Weatherproof stripping along the inside edges seals out moisture and dust. Side compartments open independently and are individually lockable. Padded seat and backrest create a place to rest when you're stopped. Not meant to be used as a passenger seat. Dimensions: 39-1/2" x 22" x 16".
The good feature of the Kolpin lounger #4409 is the thick 5" bottom seat - firm, but very comfortable! The flaws: 1) Like many of these loungers on the market, the ergonomics of the seat are very poor: The backrest tilts your upper body forward, so your body is held in a semi-jacknife position, which is certainly NOT comfortable and relaxing and defeats the purpose of the seat! Also, the armrests are so low that the average person's arms are up in the air instead of resting comfortably on the storage lids. 2) The storage lids from front to rear are so thick they should have been used for storage space; Either that, or the storage compartments should have been made DEEPER, with thinner lids. SOLUTIONS: Make a lounger with no rear storage and with an ADJUSTABLE backrest that can be tilted a few inches backward. Make the side storage compartments deeper (higher) so that a person's arms can rest on them.
This box fits perfectly on my 2010 Grizzly. It will make for a great "lounger" for the kids! My three and five year old fit side by side. Taller seat cushion gives them a great view with added security. Great product, $140 less than the one they wanted to sell me at the dealership.
I have this seat mounted on an Yamaha Bruin. Works great but the "suitcase" latches are worthless. They are too loose and rattle all of the time. One latch left loose while on the trailer and the box opened up going down the highway. It would be better if they just used the rubber bungee cords. I may modify mine that way. My neighbor bought the other Kolpin seat that Cabelas sells. He has a Polaris and it does not fit within the racks.
