Forget about your livewell. This handy timer automatically turns your pump
on and off. Cycle positions turn pump on for 30 seconds every three
minutes. Keeps bait or fish alive without draining your battery. Simple,
three-wire installation easily replaces your on-off switch. A must for any
livewell.
I purchased this switch to replace a switch that was in my boat, but only had on or off capabilities, While I had to make minor modifications to my switch panel, I was able to get this switch installed and working in about 15 minutes ( would of been quicker if I did not have to think about how to modify the hole) Went Crappie fishing last weekend, had 33 crappie in livewell, some up to 6 hours, and they were all still alive when I went to clean them. Nice product for the money. Only thing that I would like to see is a option of a larger toggle- It looks a little frail, but time will tell
I am writing this to dispute my own previous review entitled "Bought 2 Neither Worked!!". As it turns out, I was wiring the switch into the wiring on the negative side of the livewell pump instead of the positive side (between dash switch and pump). Both wires are black and I simply mixed them up. My Electronics Tech neighbor straightened me out, I bought a new switch and it works great, provided you wire it correctly! Rig Rite president Steve is a great reference if you have any questions. Sorry about the previous negative review. I was wrong!!
I bought the frist one and went to all the trouble to install it (drilled hole, wiring). The Pump mode worked but the Timer mode would not work. Went to all the trouble to get Cabelas to send me another one. Installed it and it worked fine upon installation. The first time on the water the Pump mode barley worked and the timer mode would not work. This second one is headed back to Cabelas for a full refund and I am stuck with a hole in the boat!! Don't waste your time and money!!
Had this timer shipped to England. If you can mount it from the rear of the panel all the better as you only need drill a small hole. However my original on/off switch could only be removed / replaced from the front of the panel. In that case you need to make up a blanking / holding plate. The operation is very good and it stays on for 40 secs and off for 3 mins. Keeps livebait alive although you should let it run until water clears, then use the cycle option. Good quality and suggest mounting in an area where splash is minimal.
