    Fun boat!, August 12, 2009
    By HoosierFan from Germantown, MD

"With a few minor issues overall a verry useful boat. I've received lots of good comments and questions about the boat. Be sure to purchase an anchor for this boat but don't use anything bigger than a 10lb anchor. I purchased oar clamps which work better than the oar stop system included, so you don't have to keep taking the oars apart everytime you use them. Also I'm puting a 20lb thrust motor on it which should be a lot better than rowing everytime."

    P-Boat, June 30, 2009
    By Schmelly from Coquille, OR

"This would have got a 5 Star but there were two cons about this boat 1) The oar stops worked for about half a day and then began to slide off the oar which stinks right in the middle of a little rough water 2) The anchor system-- i had my doubts about having the pulley offset from center but it performed fine with one complication from the pulley to the guide in the corner i felt that it was too much resistance and made it difficult to pull my anchor up in a hurry and the cleat for the rope needs to be tilted up for ease of pull i found that i was eating the plastic away because of the angle i had to pull it.

And about Cabela's when my boat came it had a small tear in the skin of the pontoon so i called the next day and they replaced the hole pontoon and bladder with no questions asked i had the new one in two days just in time for my fishing trip

That was quick, June 27, 2009
    By pastor07 from Martinsville, Indiana

"Didn't pay extra for expedited shipping but got the boat in two days! Was not hard to put together but the apron seems like a waste of material. No drilling, everything fit right into place. Took it out for a trial run and loved it. Moves like a feather. Don't know why you would want a trolling motor on it. Well, it's headed out west for two weeks of fishing. That will separate the good enough from the excellent products. I think it will excell."

    EXCELLENT BOAT, February 2, 2009
    By JMOWL

"I HAD NO TROUBLE ASSEMBLING, DUAL ACTION PUMP IS A MUST, TRIED ONE OF THOSE BELLOWS FOOT PUMPS...FORGET ABOUT IT!! I'VE ONLY FLOATED THE PERE MARQUETTE RIVER WITH IT BUT I WILL GIVE UP A SPOT IN A DRIFT BOAT TO TAKE MY XT PONTOON. IT'S A PLUS TO HAVE A FULL SIZE TRUCK TO CARRY IT, MY BROTHER AND I STACK THEM TWO HIGH, STRAP THEM DOWN AND GET IN AND OUT OF LAUNCHES 5 TIMES FASTER THAN DRIFT BOATERS. IF YOU HAVE EVER FISHED THE P.M. DURING THE SPRING STEELIE RUN YOU REALLY APPRECIATE THE MANUVERABILITY AROUND OTHER BOATS AND FISHER"PEOPLE". THE DOLLY WHEEL IS TOO HEAVY, OVERCONSTRUCTED IN MY OPINION, AND AS SOMEONE STATED IT IS WOBBLY ON THE ONE WHEEL. I USUALLY FISH WITH MY BROTHER SO WE JUST CARRY OUR BOATS TO THE LANDING. MY AIR VALVES LEAK INTERMITTENTLY BUT NOT TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE TO INFLATE WHILE FISHING. RELEASING AIR AND LETTING THE VALVES SNAP SHUT USUALLY PREVENTS LEAKAGE. THE PROS FAR OUTWEIGH THE CONS....AWSOME BOAT...

My BEST investment by far, January 1, 2009
    By Nicky6 from Sheboygan WI

"This pontoon is awesome. I got it for a birthday present from my girlfriend and I used it the very next day, it rocked . I used my minnkota electric motor with 50lbs of thrust and I was very satisfied with the manuverability and the bouancy of it with 2 muskie rods, 30 baits, 3 suckers, a motor, a 12 pack and me a 220pound guy on it , I skated across the water. The boat is nice and light and the wheel it great for geting it back to the truck and a great rudder. One of my favorite aspects of the boat is the detachable gear bags, I just keep all my gear in the bags and take them with me when i fish lake Michigan(I live in Sheboygan WI) on the piers. I own a 21foot Bayliner for lake Michigan a 16foot tracker and a 14foot duck boat and I still have the most fun in my 9ft Colorado XT."

Love it with reservations, December 29, 2008
    By BMag from Tacoma WA

"I bought this pontoon and have enjoyed it alot. The only issues that I have with it is on my first float I lost the anchor. It seems that the Cleat did not hold as I went over some small Rapids. The rear pockets on the Pontoon are far from water resistant and the gear I stowed in it was soaked! Other than that it is a great boat and tracked well."

"Took a while to recieve my boats up here, but well worth the wait. Took my brother inlaw down the Kitimat River in northern British Columbia to catch Koho, we did (18+ pounders). The boats were very manuverable, safe and sturdy compared to conventional drift boats, easy to unload & load. Not to mention the useable storage and simple to put together. NICE......"

    WHAT A BOAT, September 8, 2008
    By cuckoo3132 from NEW JERSEY

"I bought this based solely on the reviews, and I am happy I bought this pontoon boat.First of all I had no problems with the valves,if you read the manual you will have no problems, and it takes only 10 minuets to thourghly read the whole manual. It is very easy to understand, and this is my first boat of any kind and had no problems. This is no lie, I put the whole boat togther,(fully inflated) in 36 minuets in my livingroom(my wife timed me),it was easy,I mean easy. I weigh 205lbs, I also have a Minn Kotta Endura 134,a Cableas AGM group 27 battery(62.5lbs) and Humming Bird Fishing Buddy 120 and all kinds of tackle in the spacious takle bags that come with the boat with the transport wheel(wich is a great keel to keep you tracking true at full throttle 34lbs thrust) and I ride level in the water, and at depths of 100feet + and have no worries.Everything I have on this boat was bought from Cables. And I also recommend the Cableas double action pump to inflate the pontoons(about 5 minuets for each pontoon). So if your looking for a easy to put together pontoon boat your search is over. I live in an appartment and have to put it in the basement after each outting and all I have to do is take the pontoons off (4 straps each pontoon).I put it on top of my blazer to and from my lake
and in 10 minuets I am fishing or heading home. They say it weighs 77lbs but I think its ligheter.I can pick it up off the ground(fully assembled and fully inflated)with no problems and I have back problems.Wich brings me to being comftorble on the water I can acctully fall asleep on the water thats how comffy it is.Well I hope this review helps out,and if you have any questions, ask for Cableas product specialtist and they can help out as well."WHAT A BOAT"!!!!!!!!!

"This boat was very easy to assemble and operate.
There is no issue operating and getting to an area while
    the wind is blowing.
I also have a float tube. This was just as fun.
I hooked into a monster trout that pulled me around
for a bit. When it saw me and the boat, it broke the 24lb
leader and headed for the bottom.

Not For The Long Haul, July 30, 2008
    By Ghostrider from Indiana

"I bought the Colorado XT when it went on sale at the Cabelas store.

I had a previous pontoon boat that was 8 ft long & it was nice, but just manueverd too easily. So I bought this one that is 9 ft long & just a bit wider.

I had the Colorado XT out about a handful of times & have noticed a big difference from this & the other pontoon boat I had. The Colorado XT is sluggish, it doesn't move fast. It does what it is intended for & if you've not used another pontoon boat, you won't notice the sluggishness of this thing.

But the main complaint about this pontoon & other watercraft from Classic Accessories is, the seams will come apart. I had high hopes that this wouldn't happen cuz I actually liked this pontoon boat, especially after I put on a 36 lb trolling motor. But found out that I didn't like the side mounted trolling motor block. It scared me to think that the trolling motor blade can cut into the pontoon if you're not paying attention. What I thought was a good idea about the side mount for the trolling motor, it wasn't so. Also your arm will get tired quickly when you have to reach in an awkward angle to steer & hold on to the handle.

Since the seams were coming apart in more than 1 place, I returned the Colorado XT to Cabelas.

I bumped up my next purchase w/ an Outcast Fish Cat 9-IR. NOW this is a great pontoon boat! The 9-IR is not sluggish at all like the Colorado XT & it is fast & manuevers very well. The trolling motor mount is in the back middle, not on the side. So it is easier to lift the trolling motor a bit higher for comfortable steering. Also now I don't worry about the motor blade cutting into the pontoon.

If you are looking to get the Colorado XT, heed my advice. The seams will eventually start coming apart. The real bummer is, it will happen much sooner. I didn't even over inflate or tighten the straps. Just normal use from a handful of times & this problem already is happening. Classic Accessories does not double stitch their seams like Outcast does.

The wheel is quite useless, but i did find use for it when I had to move the Colorado XT from my car to 75 yds to the lake. The wheel was a very big help then. But stowing it under the Colorado XT, I wouldn't do if I had it in the water. The wheel adds weight & will add drag. So I left the wheel at the side of the lake till I got back & I wheeled it back to my Jeep.

If you are real serious of getting a pontoon boat, get an Outcast. They have a 5 year warranty vs the 2 yr warranty on the Colorado XT.

Classic Accessories has a wonderful pontoon boat w/ the Colorado XT. They just need to make the seams stronger & the motor mount in the middle. Fix those 2 things & they would have a winner. I learned the hard way by buying the Colorado XT & found out why my friend hated his Classic Accessories float tube, the seams come apart.

    nice outfit, July 29, 2008
    By boatman1 from Everett wa

"First time I saw one of these I thought it was real awsome. So I bought one. took me a little longer to assemble that what the book says. Had a problem with one of the valves the little yellow star thing broke but was able to fix temporary had to use crazy glue and duck tape till I get a new one. after getting it all together I loaded up my trolling motor (36 lb thrust )battery , tackle box ,and and pole,s and when i went to move it it tipped to one side so I tried to reajust things no better results so I think that one motor mount should be in the middle this might help balance things out and I think maybe a second wheel spread out more between the two would help stablize things more.I agree with one of the other comments made is that the transport wheel is really of no use unless you do not use a electric motor or battery or try to move it with these two things on it but we will see down the road how things work out and the other thing is it is hard to get the outter part to look straight after inflating mine the back half of the cover was all crooked got it to move a little but not to much any suggestions on this but over all I like it one other thing they could make it a swivel seat I ordered a base swivel I will put it on and see how it works havent had it in the water yet but Ithink it is going to work out"

Excellent boat for me!!!!, July 14, 2008
    By Chag67 from Birmingham, AL

"I ordered the Trout Unlimited Colorado XT Pontoon Boat on Monday July 7, 2008 at 11 pm. I paid for normal delivery and was extremely pleased that the boat arrived Friday July 11, 2008 at noon (courtesy of UPS). This allowed me to use the boat on my fishing/camping trip that weekend.

I bought this boat for bass fishing and to reach those spots that were impossible to access from the bank.

Price - The price was great since most of the other sites that I saw selling the XT had their cost set at $599 and up!!!! Cabela's had it on sale for $449 with $30 for normal shipping. Talk about a deal.

Assembly - It took about 1.5 hours to put together the first time only because I had to stop every now and then to tend to my fishing line in the water. The only problem I had was I didn't have a pump that would work the valve. The adaption that comes with the boat allows you to inflate it with an automatic pump however, you lose a lot of air when you have to take the pump off. There is a little yellow button within the valve that needs to be twisted or air excapes. This has to be done by hand with the setup that is sent with the boat. There must be a pump that goes specifically to this valve that is sold to make this process easier. I was however able to manually inflate the pontoons to full capacity after being quick with the process and was on the water. All the pieces of the frame slid nicely into place and clipped together with not trouble whatsoever with the cleviss pins.

I plan on storing the boat in the garage with hooks and a pulley system so I will not have to disassemble and reassemble the boat. I will just lower it onto my car with the pontoons inflated and strap it down.

Manueverability - Once you get used to the oars, it is extremely easy to manuever. I also used flippers to hold my spot in the wind or minor currents while fishing. I plan on getting a small trolling motor and battery for those days I don't feel like rowing. Rowing is not that difficult and actually a lot easier than I anticipated.

Comfort - I turned the foot rests upside down so that they turn upwards instead of downwards. This allows my feet to sit a little higher and never get wet if I don't want them to. The padded seat is very comfortable. I felt like I was reclining most of the day. I was on the boat for the first time for about 4 straight hours with no back aches and my back usually starts to ache after about an hour of bank fishing.

Storage - The storage space in this boat is just unreal. I had everything I needed to fish with and had plenty of space left over. I had all my plastics, fishing tools, camera, measure tape, etc. and I still had room in the boat. I didn't even use one of the provided bags and I had nothing on the back rack.

Accessories - The stripping basket is wonderful to hold the fish on while you remove the hook. It is also a great spot to have those fishing items you need quick access to. The rod holder is a plus. I had it in the upright position on the frame and it didn't interfere with rowing at all. I plan on getting another rod holder for this boat to have on the other side. I have not found the need to use the anchor system just yet since I fish on small private lakes and minor currents in streams. Teh transport wheel is great but you do have to be coordinated and well balanced while moving it to the water. I wore rubber boots because your feet will get wet getting in and out of the water.

Stability - I felt extremely stable on this boat. I am 6' 7" and 210 lbs. and never was once worried about the stability of the craft at any point while I was on the water. Several of the large boats went by me and I never felt worried that I would tip over or get wet. The boat was even stable enough for me to put my feet on the frames that strap to the pontoons and stand up. The instructions do not recommend this but it is nice to know that I could stand up to stretch out if needed.

Fun - Once you hook into a fish in one of these boats, you will just fall in love with it. It took me half the time to reel in the fish than it did when I had to fight it to the bank. Even the 2 pounders will turn you around.

Cons - The inflation of the pontoons as I mentioned earlier is not as easy as it may seem. The instructions do not show where to place the oar holders (not the oar locks) to rest the oars when you are not rowing. I did not see a spot on the pontoons, frame, or anywhere. They give you clips but there is nowhere to attach them. I just rest the oars on the retention strap at the front.

This boat is going to change my fishing experience dramatically.

I give this product 4.75 stars out of 5 and I give Cabela's 5 stars out of 5.

"I was a little concerned because this boat was at the lower end of the price range for pontoons; however, the pontoon met all my expectations. What impresses me the most is that I had a small issue with one of the valves, the warranty department resolved the issue the same day! If you want the convenience of a portable boat for lake or river fishing this is the one! I even took it to the Florida Keys and fished the flats!"

"FUN and a great way to make the best presentation to hard to reach fish. Fishing for Bass on a lake with lots of cover this pontoon gets you to the fish regular boats can't reach. Works great with an electric trolling motor and has no problem handling the weight of the motor, full size marine battery, fishing gear and a fair size fisherman. Takes less than ten minutes from arrival to float time on the lake including inflation after a couple times out. I leave the pontoons attached to the side frames and attach the seat and cargo rack after inflating the poontoons. No need for a boat ramp it can be launched anywhere you can reach the waters edge and I have not found it necessary to use the transport wheel but it's nice to know it available if needed, I keep the wheel in the truck instead of in the storage bracket to avoid the extra weight on the lake. Deflated and broken down it easily fits in the back of my Sport-trak with the bed cover closed. I recomend this pontoon to anyone except fishermen trying to reach that special spot on MY Bass fishing lake."

    By CTRedneck from Plainfield, CT.

    "This
one great boat. I assembled it with minimal issues and took it on the
lake. The boat handles very easily in the water. If you are looking for
a personal water craft that is an awsome bang for the buck value this
is it. The only negatives were the assembly instructions not being user
friendly and the one way valves requiring the pressure of an air
compressor to inflate. I highly recomend using the anchor sysytem due
the boat being very light and drafts very little water.

OK with caution, May 5, 2008
By newtopontooning from fly fisherman from Carefree, Arizona

"The Unlimited Colorado XT Pontoon Boat is a good product for certain boating conditions...the boat is relatively small, so it is best for smaller people, i.e., 6'0", under 200lbs. The small size limits its use to lakes and slow flowing rivers. The oar collars are poorly made...the first time I used them they came apart after about 3 hours of use.! I had to stop every 15 minutes to fix them so I could get down the river. In every other respect, this boat is a good value, It has lots of nice options and seems to be well fabricated."

Excellent Personal Watercraft, May 4, 2008
    By Teepsman from Louisville, KY

"My Cabelas salesperson recommended the Trout Unlimited Colorado XT Pontoon Boat to fit my needs and budget, and I'm really glad he did. This was the best fishing decision I've made in years. I had been looking to upgrade my sit-on-top kayak, and bought this boat instead of larger kayak. This beats the kayak hands down.

This well-designed and easy-to-assemble inflatable is remarkably stable on the lakes I frequent, and allows me to get to areas that the larger bass boats can't. I've floated on less than a foot of water! Even so, I can load my XT down with plenty of gear with no trouble. (I'm 5-10 and 195lbs.)

This boat is extremely easy to dip into the water from a boat launch. In fact, only my ankles get wet when when I launch. From there, its a simple matter to paddle forward once and then start up the trolling motor for an easy ride out of the dock. Once on the water, the boat is extremely stable and easy to maneuver. It rides out the wake from larger speedboats with ease.

The seat is remarkably comfortable for a personal boat, and has thick padding. I spent about 5 hours on the lake yesterday and am no worse for the wear.

The XT comes with plenty of gadgets and conveniences - transport wheel, lots of storage space, rod holder, multiple baskets, motor mount, etc. One thing you definitely won't lack with this boat is storage space! I carried all my gear and two meals - and still had not used even half of the storage space.

The XT is very simple to assemble, and the instructions are detailed and clear. I set mine up in my garage to see if it would fit in my Dodge Durango. It won't, but it breaks down very easily. I leave the pontoons 50% inflated and leave them attached to the frame sides. I store them in the trunk area of the Durango, and once at the lake, I inflate the pontoons with a portable air compressor. The boat then clips together in about 5 minutes. Take-down and load-in after a day on the lake is about 10 minutes. I haven't tried to put the inflated boat on my luggage rack yet, but its thick PVC pontoons seem very durable so I may try that next.

I've equipped my XT with a Minnkota 30 electric trolling motor and a small 75-minute marine battery. I will definitely get a larger battery, because the XT can handle the extra weight. A simple bungee cord holds the battery securely. I've also added a small Hummingbird fish finder, which is indispensable. It is easy store in the back basket and then mount on one of the unused oar mounts when you're out on the lake. (Note that you can't row and fish-find at the same time, which is not a big deal if you use the trolling motor to get around.)

There are some drawbacks, but they are minor. For example, the XT is very difficult to roll on its single transport wheel. While I'm glad that the wheel is there, a single wheel is almost impossible to balance without a huge struggle. Expect to scrape ground at least once or twice on your way to the dock. A dual wheel system would have been better. Additionally, the wheel is very difficult to drop down into place, and even harder to place in its storage position once you're on the water. In fact, I tend to just keep the wheel in its down position, which greatly affects the efficiency of my trolling motor. Next time, I'll try to get the boat to the dock without the wheel at all.

I threw out the standard anchor system and installed my own on a small winding pulley, which keeps the anchor line wound up. This was a great addition to the boat, and hopefully an improvement that the manufacturer will consider. The manufacturer's anchor system is far, far more trouble than it is worth. If you use it, be very careful not to let the extra cord tangle in your motor when trolling. Finally, the XT lacks a platform that allows you to do a standing cast, but I don't really miss that.

Every time out, I get compliments on the XT. It is a cool sporting boat, good for a quick trip out to the lake. It is half the price of comparable pontoons, easy to assemble, and very stable. Its drawbacks are very minor. Overall, the XT is definitely worth your consideration!
