"out of all the brands and models I run this has been my favorite camera never any problems with them you can take so many pictures in a minute its crazy the trigger speed is amazing I put it on a private road to try and get trespassers and I got pictures of trucks going 20+ in the first picture the only resion I will not give the camera a 5 is because I don't like the price of bid cf memory cards it needs a sd card and I would like the option of video"

"Absolutely not getting how this camera is obtaining all of the higher ratings. Purchased the camera six months ago, and nothing but problems. Customer service with Reconyx has been great, but problem still not fixed. Complaints:
1. Slow wake up time, sometimes not at all.
2. Misses taking pictures, even if within a few feet of the camera. This is after the walk by test demonstrated the camera is operating.
3. Night shots- camera not firing unless 15 feet or less.
4. Awkward set up with the bungie cord and inconvenient to check unless cover is removed.
5. No back light on display.
6. Decent day pictures, need improvement on night- if the camera actually senses something to even take a picture.
Huge disappointment. Do not recommend the Reconyx 55. Save your money and find something else."

"I was so excited about this camera, It was finally delivered today.
#1. Had to buy a $50 CF Memory Card, I bought and installed. That was okay, the camera worked great.
BUT
#2. You cannot view pics on the camera in the field. The memory card has to be connected to the computer.
I will have to return this camera. Who has a computer in the deer lease."

"This is an awesome camera!! It has very quick reaction time and takes pictures so rapidly they are almost like a video when you flip through them on your computer. Battery life is great (they last over a month). Very easy to use and program. Good picture quality, except for it doesn't seem like they could be blown-up without being blurry. Camera is very durable and well-made. You can also put a label on your picture, along with the time and date stamp.
One thing I wish it had was the ability to take videos. Other than that, I was very happy with this camera. Pricey, but worth the cost."

"I bought the Reconyx RC 55 in June and used it through out the summer for scouting and even into the first half of the archery season. I had a ball with the results of over 2000 pictures. The Reconyx helped me decide on a couple hunting spots that added to my confidence and perseverance to wait it out on my stand. As a result, I took both an elk and a nice buck this year. I also got some great wildlife pictures of hundreds of deer, some real nice bucks, elk, bears, mountain lions, coyotes, bobcats, turkeys and even a badger! Thanks."

"I have owned several other brands, starting with the old 35mm film and other hyped up digitals. This camera is by far the best. It has super fast trigger speed, good day and night pics, and best of all great battery life. With other brands, I was replacing the batteries every two to three weeks, this camera is on over a month in the field, over a 1000 pics, and still over 80% battery life. The only thing I would knock it down on is the night pics could be clearer, and could reach out a little farther. Just keep it closer to the trail and the pics will be good. If you can afford it, BUY THIS CAMERA!! (You will actually save money in batteries.)"

"Incredibly fast trigger speed that senses motion EVERY time. Anyone who has used trail cameras very much knows how critical that is. The Reconyx utilizes the best motion sensor of any camera on the market. The color picture quality isn't anything you would blow up and hang on the wall but this is a scouting tool. Battery life is excellent. The IR flash works great and if you want to reduce the red glow just put some dark window tint on the lense. The nighttime pictures are low quality and quite grainy. You really want to have your subject as close as possible to the camera for nighttime photos. Anything over 20 feet away doesn't show up very well in the nighttime photos. I really wish there was a video mode on this camera. If they had the video mode option then I would have given it 5 stars. The Cuddeback No Flash rates a very close second with better picture quality and much less money."

"I'm actually trying to use it to monitor cars driving onto my property. Still in testing but the shutter speed is too slow, it takes longer to wake up than I expected, the red IR flash is quite visible, and not all IR photos came out. Some were completely black."

"I recently purchased this camera after looking at all the other top end cameras available. After reading all the reviews I could it was apparent that you get what you pay for with trail cameras. This camera may cost a bit more than most but from what Ive seen so far it is well worth it. There are updates available on reconyxs website so everytime they decide to make an improvement all you have to do is save the file to a blank flash card and stick it into you camera and it automaticaly updates it. The night time pictures are great and flash distance is also very good. Trigger speed and detection range is awsome. The only thing I havent been able to test yet is battery life. I had my camera out for a full 7 days and it took 165 pictures with the battery life meter still reading 99%. I highly recomend spending the extra money for this camera. Ive tried going the cheap route and it gives you nothing but headaches."

"After being frustrated with Stealthcams and Moultrie Cameras for three years I decided to read all the reviews I could find. I was surprised to see poor reviews for Cuddebacks and Leaf Rivers and was about to give up altogether. The Reconyx reviews were by far the best so I decided to give it a try, even though I felt the price was high.
In the past, I have been lucky to get ANY photos once every ten setups. So far, this one has been 100%.
The battery life is surprisingly strong and the setup is nearly foolproof. My last set had 1787 photos on a 1 meg card.
It is nice to FINALLY get photos of the deer on my property.
I intend to buy a couple more soon."

"Well buying a game camera for our South African extreme conditions was a long decision,and after contacting Cabellas customer service whom were very helpfull i purchaced the Reconyx rc55....Well i am so impressed!!!! pictures of elephants down to porkupines even fish moving at the waterhole...The clarity is really exceptional and after reading previous night shot reviews i did not expect much ...but wow they are excellent... This really is the best to buy...The delivery to our remote area was as promised.So Cabellas well done i am impressed...only down fall was packaging box was crushed so Video cracked but shows you how strong the camera is ,am still waiting on news of when anoter CD will be on the way..Dont waste your time buying cheaper versions. "You Get What YOU Pay For"...Banana Farmer."

"I've never used a game camera before and purchased this one based on my needs and the reviews I read on all the available cameras on the market. Daylight photographs are of exceptional quality, Infrared black and white photos are just ok, however, I can almost always tell what has been photographed. I recent night shot at about a 20 yard distance through some light brush show only the eyes of the animals and I have to guess that they are deer. Night shots work best at shorter distances up to 10-15 yards. I purchased two sets of batteries: Alkaline and NiHM rechargeable. I've only been using this camera for about four weeks and they are both holding up well. Get the NiHM because they work at colder temperatures(-20 according to the manual) and they can be recharged. It is worth the extra expense in the long run. So far, I've caught coyote, red fox, gray fox, cats, raccoon, deer, dogs, humans, birds, squirrels, cars and trucks. We live in the middle of the woods and I like to set it up next to our driveway and find out who has been coming to our house. I'm not sure that the code will completely deter theft. Potential thieves probably won't bother reading the code anti-theft information on the camera until it's too late. CF cards can also be easily removed and used in other equipment. I would purchase another one of these cameras if they were less expensive."

"I pre-ordered my camera last fall, and got it in September. I won't waste time reiterating what others have said, I agree wholeheartedly with all the pluses. I tried two other top brands (3 cameras) and returned them all, thanks to Cabela's. You can't say it enough, you get what you pay for. Yes, this camera is a bit more, but there is good reason. Reconyx started out producing cameras for the professional biologists only. Now, no pro is going to use a bad product, and that is why their pro models cost over a grand. They finally made a less expensive (but I wouldn't say cheap!)version for hunters, and here it is. My pictures are great, yes it is fast (I have pics of a running herd of deer), after 6 weeks I still had 75% battery life, it is easy to program and use, and the case is really well designed. Fits snug against a tree, and with a python cable lock, no one can even bust it open. And even if they did, it is password protected. And if it was stolen, well, I've got the serial number...call Reconyx and hopefully they verify those numbers before handing out a "recode." And I can even map my deer sightings using their software. Instructions are very good, but pay attention to them. I found the camera works better with my (one brand) card than my (other brand) card...as they suggest. Check out their website for helpful info. I haven't tested it in extreme cold, but otherwise, I'm quite pleased, and I'm a hard critic after all the "good" cameras I had to return."

"This camera is built very sturdy. The reaction time is awesome, battery life is very good. The night time pictures are good. I like the moon phase an temps. I like the fact that you can label each picture. The dislikes are minute. The programming display is not backlite, would be nice for easier programming. You have to take the bottom cover off to see how many pics were taken. The rating that I give it is closer to a five than a four. I would say a 4.7."

"At last a game camera that works. This is my 4th camera and at last one that works as advertised. Before setting it out at the club I put out some corn (legal in NC) behind my house for 5 days and got over 1200 pics 99% deer. This is certainly a case where you get what you pay for. I had a couple of cameras that were about $100 cheaper but little or no pics. This is my first review but I feel strongly enough about this product that I wanted to spread the word. GREAT PRODUCT. Oh yea, by the way the quality of the pics is very good. Unless you need to see how many tics are on the deer 3.1 MP is more than enough."
