A proprietary drag material relieves you from worrying about loosening the drag to save your tippet or
cranking it down to keep large fish from spooling you. Drag transitions from friction-free at startup to
controlled strength at any setting. The spool and body are both machined and forged, allowing for a
stable, intricate marriage between the two. Plus, it's kept the reel light in weight while retaining strength
and hassle-free design. Push-button spool allows quick extraction if needed. Color scheme complements
new G.Loomis rod models. Easily converts to right- or left-hand retrieve with simple O-ring design.

Decent reel, don't get it wet!,November 8, 2009
By UpstateAnglerfrom Syracuse, NY
"The reel does its job, I've had it for two seasons now. However, on days that I get the reel a little wet (something that's bound to happen on a river) the drag starts skipping until it dries out. Usually, I have to remove the spool and let it sit in the sun (if it's out) for a bit before it works as intended. Either that's a function of the unsealed drag or it's because the first or second chinook I fought with it stripped the drag. Either scenario doesn't make me optimistic about getting another one for steelhead, big browns, and salmon.
If you're depending on the drag to fight big fish that run, I'd probably look elsewhere. Otherwise the reel looks great, reels smoothly, and is light enough to allow you to throw a big rod around all day."

Holy Cow Batman!,April 29, 2009
By Deafcat1964from North Central WV
"I purchased this little gem for a rod I built. All I can say is, "AMAZINGLY" smooth. Great fit and finish. Works like a dream, does exactly what it is supposed to and looks great doing it. If the clean, rock solid look AND feel of this beauty isn't hiding some longevity problem, this reel will DEFINITELY outlast my 13 year old british made standby. Not that it couldn't stand an improvement or two,,,,,, like radiused rims on the spools. I've found this a common problem with MANY reels so it wasn't a shock. Over all an excellent reel"

Ultralight - Ultradurable,March 26, 2008
By Dave81from Roseburg, OR
"This reel is sweet. I checked out a number of reels hands on at an outfitter locally and this reel is lighter and more durable in its design than reels costing twice the price. Sweet drag, sounds perfect. In addition it looks better than most reels, isnt flat black but the finish is not reflective / shimery and should not spook fish. Put this on a new Sage and going to need to wait a bit before picking up an extra spool, which is the only downside I see at ~$90 but is not enough of a downside to give it anything less than 5 stars"

Sweet Reel !!,August 11, 2007
By Johnsbackintofishingfrom Fort St John, BC
"I purchased the 7/8 weight reel in the summer of 2007. For its' size, it is extremely light but still has a feel of durability and quality to it. The drag is exceptionally smooth and has a pleasant audible sound when a fish is peeling off line! It is a highly recommended product. Quality at a price that could even make my wife smile,if she knew I bought this in the first place! As with other reels, the cost of a second spool is high but is a requirement for the adaptability to fishing conditions and locations. Buy this reel and you won't be disappointed! Tight Lines John"

Soft sounding click, smooth, great looking reel,June 23, 2007
By Softouchfrom The Blue Ridge Mountains
"EastFork is a sharp looking reel! Nicely finished bronze color looks great on my green/walnut Winston rod. 15 seconds to change from right to left wind. Nice quiet sounding out going click and silent retrieve. Smooth drag. Solid feeling with click detent drag setting. When looking at this reel, G. Loomis mailed the spec sheet to me just for perusing. What's not to like?"

Sturdy reel at a great price,February 22, 2007
By Herpmanfrom Chatham VA
"I'm very impressed by the smoothness of this reel. Construction is sturdy and it's easy to switch from right to left retrieve. The only problem I foresee is with the rubber o-ring--the reel comes with 2 additional o-rings. I'm not sure what to think of this--is it because the o-rings have a tendency to break often? Overall, the reel exceeded my expectations. I've fished with this reel for about a month and have had no problems."
