"Excellent value. Very stable and easy to manuver. What a joy. Thanks Cabela's for a great price and product. I recommend the swim fins for propulsion which leaves both hands for fun. Gotta go, fish are a callin."

    pontoon boat, May 5, 2009
    By OkieBR from OK

"I recently bought the Rouge River pontoon Baot. I will be using it on some small rivers, farm ponds and small lakes. The assembly is very simple and did not take long to complete. On my first outing with it I took it to a lake. I had it equpied with all my tackle the oars and a trolling motor and battery. The oars worked great. I had no problems with them. The trolling motor was difficult to use. It was awkard to steer and hard to control the boat. After about 15 minutes of fighting the direction I wanted to go I just used the oars. I think I will buy a 6 or 8 inch pedastal with a swivel for the seat. That way I can turn towards the back and use the trolling motor better. Besides the troling motor my only other complaint is that there is only 1 bladder in each pontoon I understood it to have 2 bladders by reading the specs. The boat did great on the water and with a few modifications it will be a really great boat."

Pass on this boat, April 24, 2009
    By COFly from CO

"I was in the market for a mid-level pontoon boat to take out on local lakes and float down surrounding rivers. I chose the Rogue partly based on price and because it was rated for class II water. The description is misleading… it states that it has dual compartment safety pontoons when in fact they are single bladder pontoons. I decided to take the boat out last night to a small local lake for a test run. Bent the oar locks, bent the oar lock keepers, the basket broke, one of the oars broke, and the anchor system isn't good… Not impressed. I weigh 220lbs and with the wheel, anchor and a small gear bag on the boat didn’t feel stable. I would not recommend this boat and I am disappointed that Trout Unlimited would endorse a boat like this. Guess you get what you pay for. I’m going to upgrade to a boat in the $800+ range."

Happy fly fishing, April 23, 2009
    By caddis67 from Bristol, Ct

"I've done all the research one can do on pontoon boats. I bought Rouge and i can say it's a blast to go fishing now! I've been fly fishing the Farmington river for about 15 yrs now and it always seems as though the larger trout rise across the river where i can't reach. Since i bought the Rouge, i now can get to those rising trout! I find it very easy to assemble and the handling is awesome! If you are a bigger guy like i am (240 lbs ), you won't have any problem strecting out on it! I find it to be very comfortable and stable. I don't use a trolling motor as some do, but i find rowing this pontoon is quite easy! I use a 12 lb anchor and it holds it with ease! If you are looking for a great pontoon boat, go with the Rouge! The best investment i've ever made!!"

Warranty is everything, April 17, 2009
    By CatchnEat from Boise, ID

"There is no way you're gonna find a better deal then this.

Why do people say this is a nice pontoon for "first timers"?

It's all relative. If you're floating a class 3-4 river, you would not buy a 8.5 ft pontoon, you would need a longer, bigger, heavier boat. The Rogue is made for class 2 rivers, and most lakes and ponds. ...for that, it's perfect.

As far as the Warranty: "Steelhead Dave", You should have talked to Christy at Classic Accessories. They cover just about anything. ...Ok, maybe not catching your pontoon on fire or running it over with your truck. But, if your frame breaks from slamming into some rocks? ...give them a call, I guarantee they'll make you happy.

As for me, ...let's just say I am one very happy fishin' fool.

Best on market for price!, March 30, 2009
By heavyfisherman from River Raisin/Dundee, Mi.

"Wow, this pontoon is great. Best weight load over all outhers in its class, the Roag is a great pontoon for your river and lake nuts. Easy to handel with a sturdy build the Roag is at the top in my opinion. More storage then the rest and well worth the extra money, with a alloy frame insted of metal. large storage in back with room for a marine batt. Ready for a trolling motor, this is a great time on any lake. Seat is nice, and adjustible leg positions, it will work for the big guys and the small ones. I myself am a bigger guy and love this pontoon. Great for fishing in the rivers, with many more to come. You dont want to over look this one for a cheaper substatute, you get what you pay for with thease.
I have had a great time with mine and hope you will to, if you dont pick the Roage please pick one. They are so much fun and a great way to enjoy our lakes and rivers. You will be overjoyed after you hook your first fish from that spot you could never seem to reach befor. Trust me on that.

High Quality / Easy Assembly, June 13, 2008
    By McCart13 from Anchorage, AK

"As an avid salmon / trout fly fisherman, from Alaska, this boat is perfect. My father and brother had each had their different make/model pontoon boats for a few years, but I'm glad I waited -- this one outshines either of theirs (in my eyes). I tend to leave the travel wheel in the truck (as opposed to under the boat), so there's no issue with it dragging in the water, for me. The only modification I'm looking at making is the possible fabrication of a fold-up keel to be mounted on the underside of the basket -- I'm not the most proficient rower of straight paths. Overall, it's a great boat!"

    UNHAPPY FISHERMAN, April 17, 2008
    By SteelheadDave from Michigan

"My first Pontoon Boat, apparently I made a huge mistake and didnt do my homework. This boat is made with thin walled tube as do most of the manufacturers with the exception of the ones that have Skeeter in the name.
I was floating the Pine River in Michigan and was in some choppy fast water at daybreak (first bite steelhead) I took one of those suprise rocks right between the pontoons and snapped the frame in half. You would think it would hold and just spin you around but.... NO, it snapped.
Company said it was in excess of normal wear and tear and not under warranty.
Had to buy a new boat, guess which one I didnt buy.

    great boat, March 31, 2008
    By fishin9876

"I love this boat. It is my first pontoon boat but It is in my top 5 favorite things for fly fishing. The only downfall that I do not like is that if you put the wheel in the storage position and then a battery in the back for a trolling motor the wheel of the boat creates drag in the water. Also the seat pin has popped out on me on several occations but an easy fix with a drill and a bolt. I have had this on the American River, Sacramento River, many different lakes, and soon the Green River cause I now live in Utah. I would recommend this product especially for first timers. good storage and i am planning on a multi day trip to the John Day river this summer."

Purchased for Fly Fishing, August 16, 2007
    By ILikeTurtles from Northwood, NH

"Pros - Built in wheel makes it easy to transport, comfortable, plenty of storage, stable enough to stand on.
    Cons - It's hard to row long distances, especially in wind, since there is no centerboard/fins built in, it spins too easily;
If using a trolling motor, the battery throws off the center of gravity too much if it's placed in the rear basket, so it must rest next you, which is awkward.

    Great boat, July 4, 2007
    By rutledgeinmt from Kalispell, Montana

"The boat is great... All the issues about the holes and the bladders being hard to line up are minor. I had the boat assembled in about 45 minutes. I took the boat out and used it in the Flathead river in Montana and it worked great, it is super stable and vary comfortable. This boat handles well in the water, it's alot more than I expected."

Fly Fishing Pontoon Boat, April 23, 2007
By Arizona123 from Mesa, Arizona. Fish the White Mountains.

"As a beginner Fly Fisherman I joined a Club and started asking questions about float tubes vs Pontoon Boats. Since 90% of my fishing will be on lakes, they all recommended a Pontoon Boat.
After a lot of study I choice this one and it is everything you could ever want for fly fishing. It has better than expected quality. It assemblies easily. It weight was not a problem.
I assemble it at home and carry it to the lake's on top of my SUV.
It is fitted with a 40lb thruse electric motor that it handles with no problem. On a recent trip the wind came up and my fishing partners in there float tubes couldnt get back to shore.
This little beauty was able to tow each one back to our original lanch site. Needless to say they quit ribbing me about having electic power.
I have received a lot of compliments about what a nice looking piece of equipment. It not only looks nice it proforms even better. Would recommend it without heasation to anyone. Look forward to using it on moving water very soon.
