"I bought this scope because of the reviews. It is not what it is cracked up to be. So far I have had two of them. Both of them have had a big black blob in the center of the field of view at 60x. I can't say what it looks like above about 40x because that is when the black blob starts to appear and blocks the image you are trying to view. From there up to 60x it only gets worse. I called Barska and they said " huh, that' too bad, send it back where you bought it, or I can sell you another one for more money". I guess it's true, you get what you pay for!"

"I've used other inexpensive spotting scopes before, and invariably the picture can't be focused to spot impacts at the higher magnification ranges. I used this spotting scope in cold damp weather at 60x magnification. The image was crystal clear and I didn't get any fogging at all. The included case and tripod are both high quality. The tripod is easy to operate and locks tightly. Very highly recommended, it even outperforms other spotting scopes three or four times its price."

"I use the Black Hawk Spotting Scope at our local target shooting range. I use it from 50 - 250 yards. I can easily see target hits. The scope is very easy to focus. It has a sliding front lens cover to shade the sun. Comes with both a nice hard aluminum case and a heavy duty soft case. Not the best tripod, the legs do not extend but is rigid and stable enough for on table range use. A great value, i would definitely recommend this scope."

"Works well until you zoom to about 50X. At 60X it is tough to see detail. I used it a lot this season on Mule Deer hunting and it works well close, but at long range I might recommend upgrading to something more suitable."

"The workmanship is first class. It comes not only with a soft carrying case but a hard case which is first class. The tripod works fine and the scope itself is easy to use and does a good job for what it was designed to do. "I read a review of this scope saying the scope would not work for manifications greater than 40. I decided that was sufficient so I bought the scope. Maybe I just bought a lemon, but I find that image quality diminishes at a rate proportional to the magnification. so much so that I found no benefit at all with increasing the manification. If you can't see what you want to see at 20X, you won't be able to see it at anything greater than 20X"

"Great package--it came with the scope, hardcase, softcase, tripod, some lens cloth--more than I expected. It is great for range use, but the short /lack of eye relief can be a bit frustrating at first. Due to the lack of eye relief, this scope might be taxing if you were panning/tracking game or looking through it for extended sessions. Great for my intended range use--intermittent range sessions. I would recommend this to friend with some reservations regarding the intended use. Overall one of the best deals you will find for 60X optics."

"The Bad - Eye relief is a little to tight and 60X mag is unrealistic for the optics. The tripod is usable.
The Good - for the price it is a good buy. The hard case is nice, If you keep the magnification under 35-40 the view is sharp. On a 100 yard range my 47 year old eyes can pick out .223 holes in the target with little problem @ 30x mag.
All in all it's about as good as you can get for this price range."
