Buying another one,
September 4, 2008
By gschrimpfrom wisconsin
"Last year I purchased a Trekker backpacking tent for a motorcycle trip for myself and an 8' x8' Trekker tent for family use. We finally got around to using the 8' x 8' this past week-end. All I can say is WOW!!! I would never have believed this large a tent could be put up in about 10 minutes using only 6 stakes including the anchors for the rain canopy. We unrolled it, staked the corners, put together the poles and up it went. I was extremely impressed by the tent bottom which looks like it would keep you dry in a monsoon. The overall quality was excellent and everything fit as it should.
Tear down was a breeze too. It only took a few minutes and easily fit back into its carrying bag with room left over for a mallet.
I was so impressed I purchased a 7' x 7' model to replace the backpacking tent I used on motorcycle trips. With only 3 pounds added wieght it will give me a substantial amount of extra headroom and is actually quicker to set up.
I beleive this tent is an extraordinary value for the $$$."

Good overall tent,
July 1, 2009
By MikieLfrom Pennsylvania
"I bought 10' x 10' version of this tent for fair weather camping to replace our cabin tent which was simply too big and difficult to set up with two people. It is very roomy for two people it was a breeze to set up and take down. It fits in the bag! I did not try but even a single person could most likely set it up in few minutes. During a week long stay we went thrugh few nasty thunderstorms and an afternoon of steady rain. The tent held up just fine with no leaks. The fly extensions over windows allow them to be at least patially open without letting in the rain. The only negative thing I have noticed is the fact that it flexes a lot in the strong wind. I had to extend the fly ropes all the way out and still during strong wind the tent looked like it was collapsing under wind pressure. It did however returned to it's normal shape when the wind subsided.
I'm gonna try this tent in the fall with some cots set up inside to see how things work out..."

Leaks-a-lot,
June 29, 2009
By AvidMNOutdoorsmanfrom Avid Minnesota Outdoorsman
"We purchased the Modified Dome Tent version of this and were very disapointed in its performance. The tent was nice sized and was easy to assemble but, it leaked the first night we used it. At first we were grateful we brought the air mattress because it kept us off the floor of the tent and dry; but with the amount of water leaking in, we became afraid we might float away. To add insult to injury, the zipper broke first thing the next morning. I have to hand it to Cabelas though. They stand behind the products they sell and took good care of us upon returning it."

Great Value,
June 1, 2009
By CristinOfrom New Castle, CO
"For the money you cant go wrong with this tent. It goes up in about a minute with only two poles to worry about. The second night we used this tent it POURED on us and we stayed dry. I would like to be able to review this tent again in a year so I can have used it a full season to see if the zippers hold out. They seem sturdy enough, but I just can't believe a tent this cheap will be 100% perfect, but so far it is!"

Dome Tent,
May 26, 2009
By shlotkeyfrom Franklin, IN
"We went camping for seven day in the Ouachita Forest, Arkansas. The tent went up very easy. The size of the tent was perfect of all of our gear and king size air mattress. We had a bad thunder storm with high winds on our second night and the tent did not leak a single drop!"

excellent waterproofing,
May 19, 2009
By fairweathercamperfrom Potomac, MD
"I purchased this tent thinking I would only use it on balmy, sunny weekends--but last weekend my family was caught in a huge downpour. It rained all night, but inside the tent stayed completely dry. Some friends with far more expensive tents had drips and leaks. This is a great value."

Better than Expected,
May 5, 2009
By Boatswainfrom Middle Tennessee
"I was looking for a tent that I could "make do with" and ended up with a tent I enjoy and have used in good and bad weather. (Trekker Classic Dome Tent 7' X 7') Last weekend with 14 scout leaders, I was one of only three totally dry adults.
Had heard that the zippers were a problem with this tent, but have had no difficulty over 7 nights of heavy use. Even the carry bag zipper, which has been given a real challenge (my impatience in bagging the tent in a storm) has worked without complication.
The only problem I have encountered is that the tent does not block out the snoring sound from the tent next to me. Oh well, what can I expect for what I consider a cheap price. Life does have it's challenges!"

Easy Tent,
April 28, 2009
By TroopMomfrom West Palm Beach, FL
"I recently purchased this tent to downsize, I love it. The 2 pole assembly is what sold me on this tent, I can put it up in several minutes day or night. It fits my inflatable twin airmattress, my gear and I still have room leftover. My use is for Boy Scouting it fits on the bottom of my backpack so it's not bulky to carry, but if you are a 6ft. tall male you may find it a disadvantage not to be able to staand up in it. I love it, thanks Cabela's!"

"We bought this tent as a X-mas present for our kids. We set it up in the basement to make sure all the parts were there. I set it up by myself in a short time. We won't know the full extent of the quality until we use it this summer."

Fast, easy, efficient,
November 7, 2008
By Survivorman22
"This tent worked great for a weekend camping trip. My friend and I got to the site well after dark, and neither of us had ever set up this tent before. We had it up in less than 15 minutes. The poles are connected to the tent by a series of hooks which allow for quick easy set up. The interior is very spacious, I'm 6'1 and had plenty of room to stretch out. The two of us and all of our equipment fit comfortably inside. It says that it is a three person tent, but you could comfortably get four people inside. The most difficult part was getting the tent completely back inside the bag when the weekend was over. It needs to be rolled very tightly, and make sure to roll the rain fly up with the tent. I am very satisfied with this product and highly recommend it."

good value,
August 18, 2008
By jv66from NH
"This is a good product for the money; the fly kept out a moderate thunderstorm but I don't know how it would be in a good wind. Easy set up, even alone. As with most 3-man tents this one really is good for just one person. Good air flow through the vented top. I am quite satisfied with another Cabela's product."

Close but not there yet,
July 26, 2008
By Anonymous Reviewerfrom Provo, Ut
"About 2 weeks ago, my wife and I bought one of The Trekker modified dome tents..The one with the 4 doors on it. At first we loved it. It had great space...the idea of standing upright to change clothes was nice too. When we set it up for the first time in our back yard we were impressed with it. Last week we took it camping and right from the time we set it up we had problems with it. As we were putting things in it from our vehicle, we noticed one of the seams had ripped open. That wasn't bad...we just put a plastic bag in that spot and called it good. The first night was nice sleeping. The next day we had a couple downpours and we noticed that it leaked some by the doors where the zippers came together. That we could deal with too, not too much water but enough to want a towel in the corners. The next morning, my wife was unzipping one of the other doors and as she did she called me over and asked "where's the zipper at" It had broken loose of the teeth and fell down to the bottom of the door! We tried all we could to fix it and it just opened more. Lucky for us we had an extra tent in the car...or we would have been miserable and would have had to cut our vacation short by 3 days. This tent has many possibilities and looks like it has some real potential. But the design of the zippers and the sides of the tent need work. So I would say it is close to a great tent, but still needs some work! Thanks Cabela's for backing up your products I know plenty of other stores that wouldn't! That is what I found to be an issue with this tent."

Broken Pole,
May 27, 2008
By VRapierfrom Western Iowa
"As a "fair weather" tent I think this tent does very nicely. That being said I think that people should be aware that the poles that hold the tent up do not do very well in wind. On only the second time using this tent we experience what I would call moderate winds and rain, during which one of the 2 poles snapped at a metal bracket and tore through the rain fly of the tent, leaving a 2 foot tear. I personally find this to be unacceptable as I know from experience a good tent can last 10-15 years. For this to happen during the tents second time out of the bag is just ridiculous."

Trekker classic dome tent,
February 20, 2008
By FloridaCamperfrom FORT MYERS, FLORIDA
"I purchased this tent after reading other reviews. It is plenty spacious for my wife and I and certainly goes up quickly and easily! Breakdown was a breeze too. I am very pleased with how it kept out all the dew (no rain experience though) The zippers worked smoothly and the extra storage pockets on the inside were very useful. I am looking forward to many years of camping fun with this tent!"

Decent tent,
January 13, 2008
By SCFibfrom Blythewood SC
"I ordered this tent for my occassional camping trips and for my granddaughters to use in the back yard. The tent is easy to assemble and take down. I wish there was a little less ventilation in the top and the zipper was easier to operate. I thought the inside area would have a little more head room close to the walls, but it is suffecient. Overall, for the price, I would buy another one if I needed a tent occassionally."

Standing Tall!!,
November 12, 2007
By Karinafrom Baltimore, Maryland, camps with dachshunds!
"This tent was bought for two reasons - the interior imensions would fit my Cabelas cot, and I could stand up inside. WOW! What a deal! What a country! I camp with teenagers and/or Brownie Girl Scouts, so it has been YEARS since I have been able to get up and STAND up. And being able to get dressed and undressed IN the tent instead of IN the bathroom makes it even better. I was camping for10 days at Cloudland Canyon State Park, on the western ridge of Lookout Mountain. The overnight lows were in the 20's and we had one night of a fairly good rain. The tent was a little cold, but nice and dry, and I hadn't even sealed the seams yet!"

"I would recommend this tent to anyone. I am a Boy Scout Scoutmaster. We camp a good bit and this tent has taken care of me each and everytime. I have purchased three of these tents for my troop and am planning on buying more. Thanks trekker for a great tent."
