INNOTEK® UltraSmart™ IUT 300/302 Training Collar

INNOTEK's? UltraSmart? series has revolutionized training collar technology with new sleek, integrated collar, which is 30% thinner than the average training collar and has an audible tone that tells you when it is fit properly. Color LED also lets you know if your unit is working properly and what your battery-charge status is. The small transmitter produces nine levels of continuous stimulation and a warning tone, all controlled by recessed, easy-to-locate buttons. The transmitter also has an instant "boost'' button for breaking dangerous behavior. LCD shows stimulation level. Transmitter operates on a 12-volt battery and has a 300-yard range. A high-performance docking station charger plugs into your wall outlet and will charge the collar completely in just two hours. Collar is powered by lithium ion battery. The 300 transmitter can be used to control two collars. The IUT-302 unit comes standard with two collars. Batteries included. Available: IUT One Dog, IUT Two Dog.

"This collar is very effective. I have 2 female JR's and they would fight and growl at each other going down the steps in the morning and fight to go outside. Since I have been using this collar, they don't do that any more. When they are outside, they will come to me now and most of the time they don't have the collar on. You mainly use just the tone when they aren't listening ~ after using the collar just a couple times. When they have chewies and they decide to fight over one, I use the tone and they stop fighting. I highly recommend this collar. When it needs charged the light on the collar turns yellowish orange and you just plug the charger into the wall and sit the collar right on top ~ NO Cords!! And when the remote needs a new battery it will show low battery. It is round also, unlike the model before it, so it isn't boxy."

"I like this collar, the only thing that I don't like is that it doesn't seem to work as far as it says. But, it works great. My dog has stopped a couple of habits that I didn't like and she is calming down and listening a lot better."

"We purchased this IUT-300 UltraSmart Micro Dog Training Collar for our 2 Jack Russel Terriers. One dog is 18lbs and the other is 12lbs. We specifically researched and chose this collar because it is supposed to work for dogs 5 lbs and larger.
As it turns out, the collar worked well for the larger of the two dogs -- the 18lbs male. He received consistent and reliable corrections on all settings (we tested several). The "ReadyTest" feature emits a series of tones when you put the collar on the dog. You want to hear 5 consistant tones indicating that the collar is making good contact with the dog's neck. Again, this worked just great for the18lb dog.
However, we could never get good results on the 12lb dog. the ReadyTest always failed at some point. If we turned up the correction to top 20% it would correct her, but this was way too powerful.
We have since returned it to Cabelas. Good thing they have a generous return policy!!
In my opinion, after using the collar for 10 days, the problem is in the design of the electronic pod on the collar. If you look at it, it is curved, or countoured to fit "small" dogs. Seems like a good thing, right? Well the curved nature of the pod makes the prongs too recessed to make good contact. Subsequently, we have used another brand with a standard rectangle shaped pod and it works great. This is just a bad design for a small dog, despite the packaging and branding.

"Great i love it good for all size dogs the low seting " 1" is not that powerful but its has up to 9 seting 5 was good for me when i shocked my self so this should be good for even the worst dog"

"This is a great training tool. Easy to use and our dog is quickly learning not to chase the deer. Now a simple warning tone will stop him in his tracks. It doesn't happen over night, it takes diligence on our part, but the collar does work. We would highly recommend this to other customers."

"The collar works as advertised. It comes with a good DVD to give training methods and tips for using the collar. The "Boost" button is an especially good feature, being able to temporarily raise the intensity level to get obedience.
We use the collar mostly in the afternoon and evening on a very smart but independant goldendoodle (nowhere as eager to please as a golden but does not shed. Does however retrieve as willingly). A charge initially lasted 3 days but now lasts longer as much less shocking is needed. Just wearing the collar makes the dog mind much better. The tone is a great help to remind the dog you can reach it. The adjustment confirmation has made it easy to judge how tight the collar should be buckled.
We have not tested the claimed range but have found the collar to work well around our own suburban area. For wide open country areas more range may be useful.
Generally a low setting like 1-2 gets good results with the boost button kicking that up by 2 levels from the base setting. The collar goes up to 10 but even our wild 16-month old has never needed anywhere near that level. The boost is instantly available when needed without needing to fool with settings.
After 2 trainers telling us the dog was untrainable, and a series of disagreements with the wife, she now agrees we should have started with the collar 8 months ago. She resisted the collar idea for months but now willingly puts it on the dog. We have nearly broken the habit of jumping on guests, which requires a base setting of 2-3 boosted to 4-5 if needed. Establishing basic obediance took about 3 days and this dog was wildly independant, fully knowing the commands but making a choice to be disobedient prior to the collar."

"We bought the 2 dog system because we have 2 dogs and like to go camping and fishing. One dog is only 2 years old and still kind of rowdy, the other one is 5 years old and pretty calm, but has a slight barking problem. The system failed on one collar, the first time the rowdy dog went in the water. We took the collar off of the calmer one and used it on the rowdy one until we could get home, let it dry for a couple of days, and then recharged it. We put it back on the dog, went camping and fishing again, and it only held charge for about an hour, then that collar failed when we needed it most, to get the rowdy dog under control. We are going to send it back to Innotek, and see if they can either repair or replace it."

Was Considering Getting Rid of 1 of 2 Beagles!, May 23, 2007

"We already knew which of our 2 beagles we were going to adopt out. He was just too much to handle with all of his bad habits, especially having two pups. Therefore, we HAD to find a product that could help, and allow us to keep both. When our original Innotek 2-collar set was delivered, 1 collar was defective. Red flag! But...We returned the defective set and Cabela's sent us a whole new set. What a difference these trainers make! We are so "not" going to adopt out our pup! His bad habits are improving and we are so happy! Our Beagle pups are 8 months young and enjoying "Freedom". They are learning to be the best they can! Since we have moved, they are learning their "new" boundaries and the trainers makes everything possible, and seamless. I am a finicky shopper and I researched various 2-collar trainers. My only regret is we didn't buy sooner. These trainers are small, lightweighted, and so is the remote control. Collars are rechargeable (batteries are internal) which is cost effective, and the remote control's battery should last a while (similar to a 35mm camera's battery).

Challenge: This style of remote control's screen is not lighted. Although, the next model up has a lighted remote control screen, the style is different.

Wishes: There is only 1 remote control, and 1 collar (battery) charger. We wish this set came with 2 of each. :)"

"We considered an invisible fence prior to spotting these collars, but wanted something simpler with which we could interact with the dogs for training.
I chose these collars because of the features you get for the price. We have 3 dogs, 2 of which tended to run away to chase other animals (horses, etc.) when not leashed.
One dog has shorter hair with whom we use the regular prongs. The other dog has long hair and uses the longer prongs. We also had to shave some of his hair to make sure the prongs would fully engage on the skin.
The collars work well! With a range of 1 to 9 levels, we used levels 3 and 4 at the beginning, and now only use level 2 if they do not respond to voice commands first. The only time I have to use a higher level is if one of them gets focused and charges after another animal.
We have charged the collars once and have used them for at least 16 hours of training so far.
We have yet to test them in water. That will come when the irrigation canal fills.

"I recently purchased one of these collars, got it out of box charged it then was going to try it and nothing. It would not turn on so I sent it back for an exchange. Thinking maybe it was just a faulty one. Got the new one in charged it turned it on it worked about 5ft away but no further so I thought it needed charged some more but I never got the light to come on saying it was charging. I would suggest going with a collar that has proven itself for now, and letting Inotek get the bugs worked out of these! sincerly disatisfied"

"This collar is primarily used on our male dog who is a beagle/pit bull/catahoula mix. He weighs about 50 lbs. and loves to chae deer and swim. The collar is waterproof and works the same after he's been in the water. However, the range is very short and it has to be on level 9 and used with the boost button to get his attention. I would not purchase this particular collar again. As always, Cabels's personnel are wonderful to deal with."

"I have never used an E collar before, however have been training NON hunting dogs for years. Innotek's collar was simple, small, easy to use, and a incredibly great training tool. In a very short time I was able to guarentee my dog would recall (come on command) at any distance. My Boxer is now SAFER as a result of this collar. I highly recommend this collar for all off lead work."

"This is a great training collar. I have been using it with my GSP for a year now and it has held up to almost daily use. Both collar and remote are light and work great. On its lanyard, you hardly know the remote is around your neck. The tone button is a great addition. I hardly ever use stimulation anymore. I started training with tone, then stimulation. Now the stimulation is almost never necessary. It charges quickly and easily, and holds a charge for days of use. Whether in the field or in the yard, this product has delivered!"
