Great product,

"We were the first cabin owners to purchase the Coleman Hot Water on Demand Unit. Our cabins are located in Petersville Alaska the best snowmaching in the country. We have tested this unit to the fullest. In the summer months we set up the shower tent that we purchased from Cabelas. Use the adapter and hooked up directly to the well with a garden hose and also hooked it up to a 100# propane bottle. This is as good as it gets after 4wheelin to stand in a shower with endless hot water. Since then all of our neighboors have purchased units."

Coleman hot water heater,
January 6, 2009
By BayBay

"I have used this heater several times and hopefully it will hold up in the spring when I will be using it every day. It has been great and lots of fun to use, easy and compact. I have used it for cleaning tack and horses. The first time I took it out on a cross country ride and used it from the back of the truck tail gate and it worked great. The weather had been cold and it instantly was steaming and producing lovely warm water! When I received the unit the hose to the pump was kinked where it comes around by the pump storage area. This is a design fault and the corner needs to be rounded more OR the hose must be longer. I replaced the hose with a longer more flexible hose and also have made a 10 foot hose for the shower adapter so that I can shower the horses. I have not used the shower for that but it works fine when I tested it. I am waiting for the hose adapter and need an adapter to use a 20 lb propane tank when I need lots of water in the barn.
Question: Has anyone used this unit with a hose adapter and large propane tank? Will the unit hold up and deliver warm water enough to wash a horse, probably 30 minutes?"

Think twice about this.,

"I purchased this for when I go deer hunting in the North Georgia mountains. I am on my third unit. Both times the temperature knob broke and I was unable to use the shower. You cannot just buy the knob. It needs to be sent back for repair.
If you are planning to use it in cold weather (under 32 degrees) keep it, and the water stored someplace warm if at all possible. Better yet, purchase the Zodi hot shower. It doesn't have the spring loaded knob that will break.
I buy a lot of Coleman gear but this water heater is very disappointing. I'll be buying the Zodi hot shower unit."

Buy this.,

"Absolutely works as promised. I would make a few suggestions..do NOT buy the spray wand that is offered. It is not worth it. There is a better option in Cabelas in battery operated hand held showers. DO buy the carry case. It is a beautiful design and of course fits the unit perfectly. It has two side pouches that will hold two 1lb propane containers each. For a while you will use the container for water that comes with the unit. It is difficult to use as the pump has to be set just so and the connection leaks. Better yet, buy from Cabelas, the seven gallon water container by Reliance. The Coleman intake hose fits perfectly through the opening and gives you two more gallons to use with less trouble. The best part is you just drop the intake in the container. Othere than that, just screw in the propane, drop the intake in water and turn on. It fires up and gives hot water nearly immediate. We love this unit. The battery last for many gallons, is rechargeable overnight on AC or DC (included) and the battery has no memory so it can be recharged when not fully discharged."

Awesome Hot Water Unit,
June 14, 2008

"This unit is great. I do alot of weekend camping trips with my horse here in western Pennsylvania. I have a Cowboy shower set up in the back of my horse trailer and i use the Coleman Hot Water on Demand unit. If you want a nice relaxing hot shower after a trial ride, this unit is ideal. I fill a 10 gallon tote up with water,(or you can use the 5 gallon jug that comes with it) lay the pump in it, turn the knob to desired temperature and you have a great shower while spending time camping in the woods. As with any battery powered item i would recommend having a spare battery just for back up which can be purchased at any battery vendor for around $17.00. It also works great for making instant hot cereals, coffee and tea. Nothing bad to say about this product."

Coleman Water Heater,
March 15, 2008
By CamperBob
from Brooklyn, NY
|
"It's good but a little tricky to use. I've found that you have to let the water run for couple of seconds to clear the residual cold water in the hose. After using it last summer for cooking/cleaning I bought a shower head for this season. I'm thinking that an extra water bottle might be handy but I expect that I can just fill a bucket for the shower."

Hot water on demand,

"Very cool product. I bought this item for my unfinished cabin and used it 3 days in a row with no problems. I also bought the shower and water hose attatchment. So far everything works as advertised. The only draw back is it runs continuous. If you have a limited h2o supply that is the draw back other than that it is a great product."

Cold Water,

"We were 14 miles off the pavement on a fishing trip. Last year the "demand" worked great. I charged the battery for two days before leaving only to have it last 5 min on the trip. It would appear the battery failed. I'll contact Coleman for help, otherwise I'll go back to heating water or buying a different system"

"Do you want hot showers while camping "Hot Water on Demand is the answer just hook it up to a green propane bottle and push the button and instant hot water for showers and dishes. This just makes life easier for the camp cook.
I have purchase many camping items from Cabela's and this was of one of the best for performance and price."

HOT WATER ON DEMAND,
September 24, 2007
By BeckyO
from Brandon, FL
|
"First thing I want to say is that when I ordered it, it was on backorder and I got it the very next week! Good job Cabela's!
It works great and has lived up to my expectations. I haven't ordered the shower head but most likely will in the near future. My boys and their friends ride 4 wheelers and camp primative alot so this would be a big help when they need to wash up after riding all day. Also, a extra battery charged up is a good thing to have too."

Problems with Equipment,
August 20, 2007
By RoddyM

|
"Purchased a Coleman On Demand Hot Water Heater back in June. It worked for the first two times I used it (once in June and once in July). Went to use it this past weekend and it wouldn't work. The fire wouldn't ignite. Changed the propane tanks and everything. The hose on the shower head is to short too. Not overly impressed."

"I purchased the Hot Water on Demand over a year ago. It worked great the first year. When we went to use it this year for our annual camping trip it wouldn't run. It turns out the impeller in the pump had stuck. No hot showers for a week left me and my companions disappointed."

Great For Camping,
July 24, 2007
By baity241
from Statesville, NC

"We use our Coleman Hot Water on Demand for camping. It is great for washing dishes or taking a shower. We hook a water hose right to it and have unlimited water. THe bag that comes with it is good but we bought the attachment for the water hose and I would do it again. The only thing that I recommend is a quick connect for the propane. While taking a shower the small bottles get cold fast and the water in turn gets cold. Other than that it is wounderful."

Hot H2o to go,
June 25, 2007
By LiLBeaver
from Newberg, Oregon

"We purchased the Hot Water Dispencer for our family vacation to cut dowm on prep and clean-up time. We ate oatmeal each morning with the water temperature at its highest level, and it worked excellent. We tried to make instant soups for lunch using the hottest setting and couldn't get the noodles quite cooked. We also made coffee with our french press that worked fantasic and fast. Again, quick and clean was our goal so we could spend more vacationing. The only way I could get it to the highest temperature was to pour the water into a (clean) basin of water and recirculate until reaching the highest setting. Other than that, I will be happy to keep it in my camping arsenal ready for our next adventure."
