Excellent pike and all around lure,February 26, 2010
By coditribeplmfrom New Mexico
"Lots of pike, bass and trout have fallen victim to this lure. The gold / fluorescent red one is a favorite of mine. Well made, good finishes and that wonderful rapala wiggle. A great trolling lure and perhaps the best jointed lure out there."

Chip,January 18, 2010
By chipopotamusfrom North Lake, Wisconsin
"As always, Rapala baits take first place on Canadian walleyes. These stick baits produced in excess of 200 fish in one day between 4 anglers. Trolled at 2.5 mph over weeds we consistently landed walleye from 18" to 31" with the biggest fish coming in at 33" and 10.2 pounda. In addition to walleye the same four anglers landed 130 northerns in a three hour period the following day. The baits held up well but after two days of non-stop hookups we replaced all but three of the Rapalas. The best producing colors were shad and blue."

Small Rapalas don't work,December 8, 2009
By LeeMajorsfrom Washington State
"When I was a kid we used Rapala Lures in big lakes in the south. We had lots of luck and they killed the fish. We fished primarily for Stripers. I remember watching the lures swim in the water when we would put them out and reel them in.
Soooo, I bought a few to try out in Washington state. Places like American Lake, Lake Chelan, Riffe Lake, Mayfield Lake, and Alder lake.
I've taken the lures out to see how they would work, and caught no fish on them. After a bit I reeled them in close to make sure they weren't weeded or something, and I was disappointed to find that they don't swim. One of them lays on it's side and just pulls through the water, and the other one stays straight up and down.
Both of them were broken-back rapalas, and had no action to them at all."

It works,August 2, 2009
By Rednaxelafrom Sacramento, CA
"There's a little fishing hole in a nearby creek. The place is choked with weeds on the bottom, so I had no choice but to work the top water. I tried weedless rigs and frogs, but couldn't get a bite. I bought a J-5 and tossed it in. Pulled six fish out, including a couple of 2-pound bass, in an hour. This is a very small fishing hole. The biggest bass in there couldn't be more than three pounds and there aren't more than a handful. Still, it's fun to use a lure that works. I bought one for my son (9 years old) and he pulled in a one pounder and three blue gills. It's a good little lure."

Rapala Jointed,April 7, 2009
By JDINSCfrom North Carolina
"I have used the jointed minnows and really think they are a must to have in your tackle box. I fish allot of shallow areas and they are great. I especially love the red colors on the lip and the hooks. I think it gets the fishes attention.... If you fish shallow water... Buy, Buy, Buy... Rapala Jointed minnows of any size and/or color. They work!!!!!"

Great lure,April 1, 2009
By Castalure1from Mass
"It's not as good as a Fat Rap, but it's better than any other hard bait on the market, and it's very versatile. You can twitch it, slow retrieve it, rip it or troll it, and it catches everything."

Color Mismatch,March 21, 2009
By cliffgfrom CA
"Just wanted to comment on the color mismatch in the catalog and online for the yellow perch color. The actual color isn't very yellow at all, it's more like a drab olive color. Overall, I have done very well trolling the J7 and J9's for rainbows, and I'm expecting this one will work also. I was just surprised to see that the color was so far off."

great product,March 9, 2009
By walleyeslayer23
"i fish on the Red Cedar river in Wisconsin and i have tried many other baits, but none even come close to the jointed rapala. I fished from about 10 to 12 o'clock and i had 1 nice Walleye and 2 decent Northerns. If you don't have one of these i would reccomend you get one as soon as you stop by your local Cabelas.
BLUE, FIRETIGER, AND PIKE are my favorite i have 3 of each on my tackle box. You can never have to many Rapalas"

There's a First Time For Everything,December 25, 2008
By 1moretimefrom So California
"While fishing a lake in southern California, on our final pass of the day, I set my friend up with what I call my "Broke Back" Rapala. I had just bought this lure, and as nothing else had worked that afternoon, decided to try it. Shortly after getting it wet, he got a good hit and started reeling it in. Suddenly the fish stopped putting up a fight and surfaced. At first it looked liked he had snagged it, but the closer it got, we saw that he had actually 2 nice bass. Quite the surprise!! Been fishing for 30 some odd years and never had that happen in fresh water. Since then, I have good success with it trout fishing in the Sierra's, Idaho & Utah. Always have a couple in the tackle box and call it my "go to" lure. Would definitely recommend this lure to anyone!!"

Stands for its name,November 14, 2008

"The rapala deep diving husky jerk is very significant. I highly suggest buying the fire tiger verison considering it has caught many fish for me. It is very popular for pike and musky but also produces catches for large pickerel and bass. I suggest buying this bait and many other of rapala lures"

Jointed Rap,June 18, 2008
By Fishjfsfrom Ohio, Northern Canada Piker
"This is my "go to lure" while pike fishing in Canada, our group of eight hard core pikers all count on our large sized Raps. One big minus, the split rings are weak, especialy the middle one, I have at least 5 lures with no middle hook due to cheap split rings. I now replace all rings and hooks before I put this lure "to work"."
