"I bought the thermacell after setting up one morning and being chased out of the woods by the mosquitoes. I was covered in camo heat to toe, bowhunting, but the bugs got so thick around my eyes I was flailing at them and being sighted by everything in sight. After about 30 minutes, I packed up and left, defeated.
The next weekend I was in the woods with my thermacell, blind hunting, and WOW, does it work! I set the blind up, and crawled inside. It was warm, so I had to strip down to shorts and t shirt to cool, but before I did I turned on the thermacell. I got a few bites, but noticed all the bugs already on the inside of the blind trying to get out! I unzipped one of the windows, and didn't get bit again!
I wish I had it when I went turkey hunting last spring - I came back looking like I fell face first into poison ivy. This is the most effective repellent I have used for mosquitoes without scaring deer with the smell (it is odorless, as far as I can tell).
A must have for any hunter/fisherman."

"I have been using my thermacell for a couple of years now, and I have never had a problem with it, and I will tell you that if you don't have one, you need one.
I was in South Carolina this past weekend, and WOW, the bugs were bad. It was hot and muggy, and the bugs were all over me, until I fired up the thermacell. Within just a few minutes, I could see the white flies, mosquitos, and even wasps hanging out, just outside the 10-15 foot range. They wouldn't come in any closer, and after a couple of hours, I realized the pad had been used up because I could see the bugs getting closer... with a quick change of the pad, the bugs were back out at the 15 foot range.
I have had experiences with Hogs, deer, turkey, rabbits, squirels, even Elk and Mulies out in Colorado, and none of them are bothered by the thermacell at all. But it sure keeps the bigs away.
We now have the table lantern one for the pourch at the house too. Works great... I highly recomend the scented refills if you are worried about animals smelling it, but they don't.
This is a necessary piece of equipment for me now. I make sure this gets into my pack before anything else..."

"After camping the Northern woods of Michigan and spraying several mosquito aerosol repellents on one's skin; we decided to try an alternative approach to the nasty bloodsuckers (ThermaCell).

"Just returned from New Brunswick Black Bear bow hunt.
Thermacell unit kept mosquitoes and black flies away during five hour nightly stands Started unit before entering woods and got five hours from each pad. Replaced the butane cartridge every other time. Used with regular scent pads (not earth scent) and had bears as close as a couple of yards without being detected. People with more experience with the unit stressed not to use more expensive earth scent pads. Bug control made this hunt far more pleasant than past efforts"

"Even with a 10 mph breeze it kept all flying critters away. I used it on my boat on the colorado river, catfishing all night. When we moved down river to a new hole I shut the thermacell off. Had the spotlight on and had bugs swarming all over. It only took about 3 mins for the new area to be completely bug free... even with the spotlight on. My son is alergic to deet and neither of us used any bug spray. Not one mosquito bite. Not one. My buddy that was fishing with us has since purchased one and told all of his fishing buddies about it."

"I have been on numerous bear hunts when the bugs were so bad that nothing would work and spending 5 hours of buzzing would drive you insane! This thing is a dream machine. I strapped it to the tree near head level and zero - I said zero- bugs on my face and hands. I hunted without gloves! Step outside of the thermacells range and the bugs were all over you! 5th night (25 hours of hunting) and I nailed a nice bear with my bow! This machine rocks!"

"As soon as I turned the appliance on the bugs ran for the hills. I went turkey hunting with a buddy and took it along. He was on the fence about the thermacell until I turned it off and started to get eaten alive. Now he has one as well as all the others who have seen it work. Great product!!!!!"

"I bought this unit on the recommendation of a fellow hunter. I just returned from a spring bear hunting trip and was utterly amazed at how well and how quickly it worked. I would wait until I was being pestered by mosquitoes before I turned it on and within less than a minute, I was mosquito free. I have been told that it works well at disseminating cover scents as well... I plan to experiment."
