Bauer makes great flyfishing reels,May 8, 2009

"I have owned a Bauer LM3 reel for several years. I use it on a 6-wt Sage RPL rod. It has worked superbly when playing both small and large trout. This Spring, the drag seemed to becoming too tight at its lowest setting when I was using 7x tippets on large fish caught on quality tailwater near my home. I sent it to Bauer and they refurbished it and had it back in my hands in barely over a week from the date I mailed it. Great Service! I also recently purchased a Mackenzie M1SL Superlite reel for use with a 5 wt. Orvis rod. I have only used it a few times, but it is apparent that drag is smooth as silk over a range of drag settings. My advice is that a potential buyer should give serious consideration to this reel. For the money, it matches up very well with even more expensive competitors."

"Great reel! Great customer service as well. I lost a bearing shim (very inportant to the drag) while switching to left hand retreive. Call Bauer and they sent me new ones for free. I would definitely recommend a Bauer to anyone."

"I love my m3. it is an original, 12 years old. this thing has been put to the test and keeps going. but now after so long the drag just started slipping this weekend and the guys at bauer are upgrading it to the newer drag they use for just $35.i cant wait until i get her back. i would recomend this reel to anyone who wants a solid workhorse of a reel the drag is great."
