"The heaviest duty portable I've ever used.
The solid aluminum frame can handle more weight and is better built than any other, and has a solid aluminum bulit in rod holder.
It has a bigger handle and heavier duty cable than any other brand too.and the free rod is worth more than the downrigger as far as I'm concerned."

"I was hoping this product would live up to its great reviews. It did not. The clamp wouldnt grip the side of my boat at all and would have fallen off in the lake, and the cable was wound on spool badly twisted so that when I released the tension on the spool about half of the cable flew off in a twisted mess. I had a hard time stuffing it back in the box to return. Very dissapointed."

"The solid aluminum frame is the way to go, and the built in rod holder makes sense.
I've used this one for 4 years now and no problems.
I really like the free downrigger rod that comes with it.
I can't find anything close for this kind of money."

"we use a lakemaster on our big boat and we pack this mini laker into the high country.
It fell off our pack horse along with some other gear on a rockslide...we wrecked some of the gear, but not this mini-laker...it survived and helped us catch some nice fish, and saved our trip."

"I ordered it, and can't believe it came with a tournament grade downrigger rod, AND a built in rod holder , heavy duty cable .in other words the works.
I've only used it about 20 times, and we've caught over 50 fish so I'm happy. no breakdowns , just fun ,Great value"

"I have been flying into remote lakes for over 35 years.
This Walker Mini laker has been with me for about 10 years now, and I have to say it's the best built clamp on downrigger I've found yet.
Solid aluminum frame, with stainless steel driveshaft and Clutch threads means zero maintenance has been required.
It also has a built in solid aluminum rod holder, and no other portable has that.
I had to chuckle at one reviewers comments about the clutch knob breaking ...he obviously was using some other brand ..you couldn't split this one with an axe.
For what they charge for this thing.. there's just no way there's a better value in a portable downrigger anywhere, and they even give a great downrigger rod free with the purchase.
The walker Mini-Laker gets my vote."

"We have over 2 dozen boats for our clients to use on our fly in lakes.
We started with a mix of different downrigger brands that our guides brought in with them over the years.
Big Jon, Scotty, Cannon and Walker .
Pretty much everything has become useless due to lost or broken parts except those Walker Mini-lakers.
They are quite simply built stronger by a big margin, and can handle the abuse we throw at them.
I'll be bringing in some more next spring, and you know what? the downrigger rod they supply with them free is the favorite of most guests, and those guys are bringing some pretty expensive rods with them too.

"The Walker Mini-laker is bullet proof.
The stainless steel driveshaft shows no signs of wear whatsoever, and I've got more than 400 trips on it.
A nice feature of the clutch knob, is that it's not only solid stainles steel threads, that never wear out but has a keeper on it to make sure it doesn't fall in the lake.
I've tried all the other brands and there isn't one of them that can handle the kind of work I put this unit through.
No other brand includes the rod holder, or can handle as heavy weights.
Walker even gave me a free downrigger rod too.
I can't say enough how happy I am with this product."

"I fly into a lot of Northern Lakes and have tried every other portable downrigger.
Without a doubt this Walker Mini-Laker is a lot stronger built than anything else available.
It easily handles heavier weights than other portables.
It has a full size handle for cranking, has a built in solid aluminum rod holder, and has worked flawlessly for many years.
With all the other portables I had to buy accessories to make them work..I mean what good is a downrigger without the rod holder?.. Walker even included one of their famous turnament twist downrigger rods to boot.
They cost $50 bucks alone at my local store..
I can't belive you get so much for so little.
