compact,February 24, 2010
By Parkhopperfrom Orlando, FL
"This stove folds up nice and small and the case is heavy enough plastic that it is protective. I know there's an auto-lighting version out there but if you have a lighter, there's no need to shell out the extra cash. Flame control opens up nice and wide and boils water fast. Just make sure you have a flat surface and keep your hand on the pot!"

best stove on the market.,April 11, 2009
By stufftesterfrom AR
"The titanium auto start stove is durable, light, small, hot, quiet, simmers and works reliably. I've used this stove backpacking above 12000 feet with no problem at all. I brought it as a back up stove and ended up using it all week as the primary stove for our group when my friends top of the line liquid fuel stove failed on day one of the trip. This stove will boil water fast on high or simmer meals on low easily which most liquid fuel stoves can't do well at all. The push button electric starter makes ignition easy and safe. Just screw the stove on a fuel canister, turn on the gas, press the button and you are ready to go. No other system is easier or cleaner. Comes with a nice hard case which helps to keep your stove clean and protected. Works great for adventure motorcycle camping."

stove,April 30, 2008
By ohiobigfootfrom SE Ohio
"This is a great little stove! Small and light, and it comes in it's own little hard plastic case. If size and weight are of consideration, this it the one to get. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. A hundred times better than trying to pack in with a big heavy colman style stove and carrying fuel for it also that smells up your pack and hunting clothes. Just remember that it's only a one burner, if you have a party of 3 or more, I sugest at least on stove for every 2 people. One ea would be better, then each person can cook his own food and you can all eat at the same time, then get back to the hunt."

Windy and still cooking!,April 30, 2008
By Firejunkyfrom Goldfield, Nevada
"I recently purchased the Snow Peak GigaPower Stove for a backpacking trip. The stove is extremely light weight, and compact in size. During my trip into the Seirra Nevada Mountains, the wind began to blow very hard (approximately 20 - 30mph gusts). My GigaPower Stove worked flawlessly and I was still able to cook my dinner. Thanks Cabela's for the excellent products you offer. This stove is a must for anyone who backpacks!"

Snow Peak Giga Power Titanium Auto Ignition,April 16, 2008
By CampingJimFromMainefrom South Portland, ME
"This blow torch, I mean stove, is a true must-have! I went with the Titanium Auto Ignition for a couple of reasons. Titanium is 40% lighter than Stainless Steel (in which this case, that doesn't really matter), but it's also 40% stronger than Stainless. It also will not corrode; stainless can. The auto ignition is a great feature not only for it's convenience, but the last thing you'd want is to have no means of lighting it. Wet matches, lighter ran out of butane, whatever the case may be, it's nice to have. It does run on many different fuels, not just snow peak. I've used mine with JetBoil, and MSR. The stove comes with a hard case, and literally fits in the palm of your hand. This stove lives up to it's reputation too. It's been a true work-horse since 1999. Snow peak has come out with a new model called the Micro Max, which throws out I think 11,500 BTU's, but the burn time is about half that of the Giga. Also, there is no replacement parts available for the Micro Max like there is for the Giga. It's treated me very well, and I'll never be hiking/hunting/backpacking, etc. without it. Money well spent!!!"

Hot little stove!!,November 27, 2007
By CLMTNGfrom Kalispell, MT
"This little beauty performed above all my expectations. At first I was a little weary about what it would be able to do since it was so small; however, while hunting this season it boiled my cup of water for coffee in less than 3 minutes. This stove kept lit even during 25-40 mph winds. A very reliable piece of back country equipment that I won't forget to leave home without...even in the off season."

Light Reliable Stove,September 7, 2007
By Lucchese
"Have been carrying the stainless steel manual start model in the Sierras for several years now - performs well. •• It's handy to spend a few more dollars and pickup one of the little collapsible plastic wide feet tripod stands (Primus) - snaps onto the base of your fuel cannister - much more stable - prevents tip-overs of top-heavy cooking arrangement. Fits cannisters of various sizes - large and small. •• Avoid overly enthusiastic use of wind-guard foils, etc. If you completely enclose the burner too well under the pot, the burner metals can over-heat and damage the valve on your fuel cannister - stops fuel flow - could also over-heat the cannister itself. Under normal use there's no problem at all - just don't enclose it up too well. •• Before this propane stove, I used white-gas stoves (Whisperlite, Firefly, etc) for a couple decades. The propane is more convenient and reliable - but fuel is more expensive."

Best so far.,September 3, 2007
By cardopolisfrom Harrisonburg VA
"I've used MSR/Whisperlite/Dragon Fly, Coleman, Peak and this one beats them all for size, weight, burn time, eas-of-use and reliability.
Did not get auto-ignition version. Always have a good lighter handy anyhow—so didn't see a need to pay the extra bucks.
Looking to get their lantern now (not available at Cabela's)"

One of the best,August 7, 2007
By YukonTravelerfrom Louisiana
"I've used the auto-light titanium model for 3 years, including two trips down the Yukon River. It is a very efficient little blow torch. I haven't had any trouble finding canisters near my departure point from civilization since it uses many different brands, though the Snow Peak brand is usually the most reasonably priced. As with any similar stove, an aluminum wind guard is essential.
My cousin has a Jet Boil, which appears to be more efficient, but his has plastic, which already has suffered from the heat, so I'd go with the GigaPower."

Snow Peak GigaPower,March 21, 2007
By Fishman07from Springfield, Missouri
"Great stove. I bought the titanium model with the auto-start. The ease of use is fantastic. The only complaint that I have is that it struggles in the wind and cold, especially in the cold. Boil times, when the temperatures are down in the twenties can be excessive. If you use this stove in warmer climates, it will probably be your favorite stove."

great stove,February 20, 2007
By JollyGreenGiantfrom Austin, TX
"I've had this stove going on about 2 years and still love it. I've taken it on many campouts and it has never disappointed me with how fast it can heat/cook things. Although they only say to use the Giga Power fuel, I have found other brands that fit, and after all the stuff I've put it through I doubt the fuel is going to damage it. Great stove for any camper."

great product, one flaw,December 24, 2006
By RandoOTM2from Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, CA
"I bought my stove this past summer and have given it workout. I have the model with the built in ignition source. Even at freezing temperatures at 12,500 feet, the stove lighted reliably. It cooks fast, is controllable, is very efficient, extremely light/compact, and thus far, durable. There is only flaw I found with it. It requires its own brand of fuel (other brands of canisters do not fit properly and are not recommended by Snow Peak). Now granted Snow Peak fuel is just as good and economical as any other brand, but, if the local sporting goods stores does not have it in stock, you are dead in the water. Plus Cabelas does not sell the larger canisters which are far more stable (tip resistant when compared to the small canisters) and weight efficient (necessary on on longer trips).
So in my opinion it's a great stove, but you better stock up on the proper fuel canisters of the desired size you need. You may not find what you want in the final days just preceding your big trip. Personally, I am buying a different stove for my coast to coast bicycle trip, because I want to use whatever brand of fuel I can find along the way."
