"Very happy with the lifter. I wasn't sure when I purchased the other pieces if a lid lifter was necessary. I can tell you that the lid lifter is the easiest and most secure way to lift the lid. Tall enough to keep your hand and arm far enough away from the heat. the arms grip the lid securely. I'm able to tilt the lid to dump ash and the lid does not move in the grip. The tripod shape of the lifter guarantees a square and level lift of the lid."

Good Piece of Gear for Dutch Oven Cooking,

"An effective little tool for lifting the lid on your dutch ovens, it works like a champ! However, I had to do some grinding on the end pieces that go through the holes on the lid - the rods were too big to fit in the holes on the lid. After a couple turns on the grinder, it worked fine. I suspect that added step could prove aggravating for some folks but I still think this is a superior design to others I've seen, such as the Lodge lifter - that looks wobbly to me."

"The tripod design of this lid lifter allows a lid to be picked straight up, without tilting and spilling ashes into your food.
This lifter is well built, well designed and strong.
Unlike the Lodge lid lifter, you can tilt a lid in any direction - even upside down if you wanted.
The 14 inch length is perfect for dutch oven cooking (Lodge lifter is the same length, if you were wondering). The longer version would be better for campfire cooking (without using charcoal).
I still love my Lodge cookware, but this lifter beats the Lodge lifter hands down."

"Used it for the first time last month, works great. Bought it with some reservations. Had a hand made one that didn't have the ability to lock the lid in position and dropped more then a few coals. This lifter really holds the lid in any position with complete control. I use it with a boy scout troop and the boys all come over to get it to check their ovens instead of using the old ones. Simple to operate, made well and durable. Should provide years of service."

"Great Lid Lifter by Mair. Awesome design for Dutch Oven cooking. The only little thing that I see wrong with this lid lifter is the edges are sharp. I would assume from mass production. Filed, sanded and repainted mine. I would recommend this to anyone that uses their Oven often. A must have item."

"great design and idea, however for the heat impared might want a longer handle version, i wear leather gloves when cooking and if this doesnt bother you then have no fear this is the lid lifter for you gives nice strong grip and function with the lid and around the fire"
