minn kota foot pedal,August 7, 2009

"I would agree that this is a very simplistic unit as even I can repair it with a little electricians tape placed under the contacts after they ware over time. My trolling motor with this foot pedal is the best thing I have ever put on my fishing boat. I just ordered another as a back up to the original one that came with my troller about 7-8 years ago.I have repaired that old one several times and it is still good as new. There are 3 screws to take out and it is real simple to see how it works and fix it. The last time I just loosened up the 2 screws that hold the circuit board down, lifted it up, and put a little peace of folded electricians tape under the circuit board and tightened it back down. This tightened the on-off switch contacts and it works like new. The multi speed slide allows me to set the speed at whatever speed the fish like and I catch most of my walleye at about 5 and 1/2 speed. If you ever use a autopilot you will never go back to any other type."

Minn Kota powerdrive foot peddle,July 31, 2008
By Anonymousfrom Saskatchewan, Canada
"This product worked well and fixed the problem I had with the old one. If you have any problems with your Minn Kota powerdrive, chances are that it is the foot peddle that is the issue. Cabela's had the best price even with shipping and other fees to Canada it was a great deal."

minn kota trolling motor pedal,August 20, 2007
By MarkEvfrom Sumter SC
"I fish 2-3 times a week in fast river currents and had the old pedal for 3 years. I have made repairs to the old one several times and just couldn't fix it this last time. My brother bought his around the same time and sold his boat last year, yet had the same problems. I would buy the pedal to fix an old pedal problem but if given the choice in a new trolling motor I wouldn't pick this trolling motor type unless the company had changed this model's pedal."

It works (for now) but its cheap junk,August 1, 2007
By Dazzu
"Last one stopped working so I pulled it apart to try and fix it. This thing is nothing but a plastic shell with a very simple 50 cent circuit board inside it. The price is absolutely ludicrous, but what can you do... As far as I could tell it was the only controller that worked with my model trolling motor. Dramatically over priced by the manufacturer."

prowerdrive micro touch foot pedal,June 18, 2007
By Illinois247fishermanfrom Illinois
"I have gone through two foot pedals in the last five years and from day one i have been disatisfied with the construction and performance of the pedal. The pedal is flat, so I am not able to feel the trottle from the steering. The speed control is flush and again I find myself using my hand to change speeds, because it slides under my foot. Also when the unit gets dirt in it it is hard to move the speed control. I use the automatic speed control and find that it has a hard time staying on. When using the manuel throttle control I find myself standing on the control to make it work. I DO NOT recommend this foot pedal to anyone. I have a 24 volt 70lb thrust trolling motor (3yrs old) and WOULD recommend it to anyone. I've noticed Minnkota has changed the style of foot pedal, but this does me no good. I hope they can invent an adaptor, so that the new foot pedal can be interchangeable with the older trolling motor. I don't want to buy a whole new unit just for the foot pedal. I have to go now and buy a new foot pedal, which makes number 3."

Minn Kota Foot Pedal,January 2, 2007
By Brian12from Michigan
"I have owned a AutoPilot for 6 years and this is the 4th pedal I have had to purchace. I fish about 25 to 30 times a year in the rivers in my area, and for the amount of fishing that I do, the foot pedal will not last more than a season or two. When the pedal is new it works great, but doesn't last up to the elements."

MinnKota Power Drive with Autopilot,November 20, 2006

"This is my second Minnkota PD/AP. I had one on my last boat, too. It lets me focus on fishing, not boat control. I had a footpedal fail within a couple of months, but the folks at MK repaired it in a few days under warranty. The composite shaft has taken many hits while drifiting in fast current, but always springs back. I'll never go back to a cable steer trolling motor with a metal shaft."
