Nice try but keep trying,May 6, 2009
By justthefactsfrom Oregon
"I got the 4-20 x 44. For this price spend just a little more and get a Nikon buckmaster! - Optics were maybe as good as my Barksa for half the price. yardage marks on the side are not very accurate., 200 yard mark focuses at 100 yards. I didn't expect it to be as good as my VX-iii Leupold but wow it wasn't even close. They give you no MOA values for the extra cross hairs so I had to set up a Ruler at 100 yards and figure them out. DOES NOT FIT A .22 Ruger. I had to by a $70 extened length base. The 5x multiplier makes the distance between the turrent and the ocular very long. How long well they don't tell you so I had to measure that too. The turrents do have a 0 reset, which is nice, but you need a 1.5 mm allen wrench to unscrew the set screws. They give you a 1mm wrench which stripped the screw head. Luckiely have have a 1.5mm wrench to get the other set screws out and a DRILL to get the stripped one out. And lastly it has a rattle - yes it rattles! Don't buy this scope Please!!"

Alpha 5X Scope 3-15X40 Review,May 5, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Phoenix, AZ
"I ordered this scope because I do a lot of long distance shooting and wanted to give it a try because it has a wide magnification range and a 40mm objective which I prefer over the 50mm because it is less bulky and can be mounted lower for a better cheek weld. As a point of reference, I own at least 10 other scopes including Leupold, Burris, Nikon, Bushnell, Simmons, and Swarovski. I found the optics on this Alpha 5x scope to not be in the same league as any of the above mentioned scopes. As a matter of fact, I could not get this scope to give me a sharp picture at distances beyond say 200 yards or so. It always looked slightly blurry to me even on the lower power settings. I returned it before I had a chance to shoot it so I can't comment on its field use but it didn't make the grade so why bother even shooting up ammo. In this price range, I have found the Nikon Prostaff and Buckmaster scopes with BDC reticles to have outstanding performance both on the range and in the field and have taken big game in the 600-800 yard range before. The new Bushnell Trophy Scope (or Elite models) with DOA reticle appears to be a great value as well but I have not tried one in the field but it is something to think about if you are considering a scope for long range needs. I have found all of the bullet drop (ballistic) reticles to be very effective in the field whether the scope is from Burris, Nikon, or Swarovski. My favorite of all of them however is the Nikon because they are sharp, clear, bright, rugged, effective, and affordable. You can go with any of them too- Prostaff, Buckmaster, or Monarch- they are all great and all very effective in the field. I hope this helps somebody out there to narrow down their decision and feel good about the scope they decide to go with- there really are a lot of very good optics out there these days."

Cabelas 5x 3-15x40 scope,February 12, 2009
By RenoShooterfrom Reno, Nevada
"I picked the scope up, took it home, mounted it on a 25-06 rem, went to the range, two shots to sight it in at 25 yards, moved the targets out to 100 yards, went thru the power range from low to high, no change in impact at 100 yards, moved out to 200 yards, did the same routine, no change in impact. This was with Barnes 100 gr TSX BT bullets loaded with 55 gr Reloader 22 powder, CCI 200 primers in Winchester Cases. Cronographed at an average of 3300 fps. All that happened was that the first hole just kept getting bigger. I shot about 100 rounds this trip, will follow up. Parallax adjustment does what it is supossed to do. Very satisfied."
