"I TRIED OUT SEVERAL DIFFERENT CAPS OF THIS TYPE & FOUND THIS TO BE THE BEST FITTING, MOST COMFORTABLE I COULD FIND. VERY WARM, SOFT & THE CAMO PATTERN OF MOSSY OAK SHADOW GRASS WORKS WELL HERE IN THE COLUMBIA BASIN OF CENTRAL WASHINGTON. IN FACT I LIKED IT ENOUGH TO BUY SEVERAL AS CHRISTMAS GIFTS."

Disappointing for use as waterfowl gear,

"I bought this on-line thinking that this was a can't miss since it was from a respected waterfowl company. I was wrong.
1) This is a light hat that is great for showing the Avery logo but don't try to use it to keep warm. The hat has zero lining or anything besides the one layer of fleece.
2) The camo pattern is good but the overall color has a brownish hue that makes it stick out and not match any other camo patterns."

"I bought this for a trip to Kansas...we tested it pretty well. Temps never got above 18 degrees and it kept my head warm. Also works well for the tops of the ears. I would buy another one."

"Took this skull cap out for the first goose hunt of the season. It wasn't real cold weather (Low 40's). The cap kept my head warm and for this price you cannot beat it. AVERY all the way!"

"I was a knit hat wearer for years but after losing both my knit hats this season I ordered the avery skull cap . I have to say it was a great move.This hat keeps my head warmer and dryer than my others ever did.If I ever lose this one I will be ordering another one the next day."

"I hunt in CA and now where more than any other hat. However, would like it to be a bit thicker and a bigger. Tends to slide up on my head easily. My head is not big (hat size ~7.5). If its really cold (CA stds) -- 25-35 degrees, my ears still get cold. This shouldn't happen."

"I'm surprised that only 1 other reviewer mentioned that this skull cap is just basic fleece. It is by no means waterproof or windproof. There is no laminate whatsoever. I also ordered the neck gaiter, which DOES have a laminate, making it impossible to breath through. I sincerely wish it were reversed - that the skull cap had a wind/waterproof laminate and the gaiter did not. In my opinion, a gaiter should be easy to breath through so you can keep it over your mouth and nose; and the hat would be much more useful with the laminate so the wearer did not have to wear a hood to prevent heat-loss from wind or to prevent rainwater or snow-melt from entering. I mean, heck, that's the reason I ordered this hat. Now I'm still looking for a hat to meet my needs . . .
Anyway, make no mistake, if you order this hat - which is generally a nice fleece hat - you will receive a basic fleece hat that is very permeable to wind and water. In fact, if it were not mislabeled I would have given it 5 stars."

"This skull cap is advertised as waterproof and windproof, it is neither. Warm hat but not what I was expecting when I ordered it. If you just want a standard skull cap then this hat is for you. If you want a waterproof and wind proof hat for your bald head, like mine, look for a different skull cap."
