"Only received last week. Have stripped and refilled 2 reels so far. Very easy to set up and use, works very well. I replace the line on my reels every year and this is the slickest way to remove the line and to refill that I have used. Product is very well made and easy to set-up and use. Works well on both spinning and casting reels."

"It was a Christmas present for my spouse. As luck would have it, he bought me one too, the exact same one and from Cabela's. To make matters even more complicated, my good neighbor bought us one too. Two of them have been returned. The one we did keep is mine to my husband and since have used it twice, once for his reel and once for my reel. It was so simple to use, he's decided to offer his services to to all the fishing people in our park who need their reels relined. We just love our Berkley Line Winder."

"The winder portion really works well. Quick to put the line on the reel.
The line stripper is a drawback though. Hard to thread the line through the spools. Works well once you get it set up."

"I purchased this product last year and have respooled spinning reels, baitcasting reels and spincasting reels and had no problems with line twist. It was very easy to setup and use. The only problem I experienced is with the line stripper. The line continously tangles up inside the stripper."

"This line winder does a good job for me. I have read a review on this winder which was unsatisfactory but this is not the case for me. Perhaps the reviewer was not properly using the winder because it sure worked well for me. I used it to rewind six reels (and their spare spools when on the reels) and had no problems at all."

"I had trouble assemblying the unit, so I finally broke down and read the instructions. The spool holder must be inserted into the base. I am not sure what the rubber rings were for, but once set up it was super easy to load line to reels. As far as I can tell any size spool of line can be adopted to the winder. It is well worth the extra expense to get a good quality usable product."

Speeds up the task,

"For my baitcaster reels it's a breeze.
It's a big help on the spinning reels too, although your still stuck with the line ending up twisted on the reels. My solution has been to put the line on the reels, head for the lake, put a big bobber on the end of the line, and cast it behind the boat. As the line goes off the reel, it seems to untwist and you can reel it back on.
The design of it does eliminate the need of someone else having to hold the spool while you refill the reel."

"To save yourself a phone call to Berkley...the photo shows the line winder setup for baitcaster reels, which I have not had the chance to try. However to spool up spinning reels, you must turn the line spool 90 degrees so that it spools on without line twist. Hence is what would explain the two little rubber grommets on the end of the line spool rod when you open and un pack the unit. According to Berkley (as per their instructions via their 1-800-phone number) you must turn the spool rod 90 degrees and after installing the spool of line of your choice you use these rubber gommets to hold the line spool in place horizontallly, as using the hardware included for baitcaster reels causes the line to tangle around the spring and wing nut when using it in that direction. I have found that you must use a flat washer along with this setup to make it work. This still seems to be a good line spooler as compared to what else is out there."

"The line winder was OK for casting reels, but not for a spinning reel. Unfortunately I have only one casting reel. Perhaps there is a way to load spinning reels, but the instructions were horrible and a search of Berkley's web site added nothing. I went back to loading spinning reels with the line spool on the floor to get the line loaded in the right direction."
