This versatile line works great as a running line behind a shooting head for salmon and steelhead fishing. You can also use a small length as a butt section between a floating line and a leader. And the highly visible red color allows it to work as a built-in strike indicator when nymphing. Amnesia loses its monofilament memory when given a good stretch. 200-ft. spools. Sizes:
I'll never forget my first steelhead caught on a fly of my own design using Amnesia as a shooting head with half of an old double taper fly line. Besides it visibility, it's true, Amnesia never remembers its curl. This line is perfect for any shooting head application. I also use it for steelhead fishing with a "chuck and duck" technique. Besides its no memory, its red color provides a highly visble means of determining even the slightest pickup. Another way I use it is as an indicator when I make my own leaders for Polish nymph fishing, where its high visibility but relatively small diameter (in relation to the fly line or other tie-on indicators) make it an ideal indicator but not so obtrusive that every fish in the water knows it's there.
Used this line in between fly line and leader as a loop connector. Good color separation between lines. Could also be used as strike indicator, but kinda hard to just see the piece of line. Would use another separate strike indicator as well.
I use Amnesia line for making leader butts when fly fishing. For fly lines with no loop, or when the loop cracks/breaks, just use some Amnesia line to make a leader butt - nail knot the Amnesia to the fly line, then tie a Perfection Loop about 4-6 inches out and you have a great leader butt for doing a loop-to-loop connection with a leader. The Amnesia line will lay out perfectly straight to easily turn over a leader/fly. If you use regular mono, it takes a curl on the reel and will not lay out the fly straight. Amnesia's low memory makes it really good stuff for the fly fisherman.
