I have purchased 3 spools of this line. I feel this is about as good as you can find for the cost. Cast smooth and is dependable.

I pruchased the 3 wt. and it works very nice. I like the taper and the way it lays the fly on the water. The only down side is the welded loop is only on one end. I would have given it a 5 if they had welded loops on both ends. After all that is the reason you by a double taper. I know how to tie a nail knot but I still like the loops.

Scientific Anglers Master Trout, BEST ever for me!

With short rods, dry fly situations, and tight quarters, you just can't beat a good double taper line. With this in mind, and a tiny reel with little backing capacity, I bought one of the short, inexpensive name brand double taper 5 wt lines from Cabela's arch rival (you know who). It fit really well on the reel, but...quite frankly, I was very underwhelmed with the way it loaded and cast with my short 6' 5 wt Diamondback "Diamondglass" fiberglass fly rod. I decided not to worry about backing capacity (how much do you really need with a rod this tiny?) and to go with a tried and true fly line from one of my favorite manufacturers. Well, this line, the SA Mastery Trout DT5, brought my little Diamondglass to life! It loads easily, shoots beautifully with very little effort required, and floats great. Hey, it even roll casts pretty good on this rod, something not usually seen with a 6' rod! Yes, as someone else mentioned, it would be nice if it had welded loops at both ends, but to me, that's a very minor issue. It comes in a nice stealty dark willow color...this is one GREAT line and very highly recommended!
