Scientific Anglers™ Sharkskin™ Trout Tape Fly Line – WF

  • Greatly reduce friction for increased casting distance
  • Sits higher in the water
  • Patented technology increases strength
  • Disperses light so fish aren’t spooked
Sharkskin™ is one of the most innovative fly lines ever made by Scientific Anglers™ and is a true revolution in fly-line design. A long-casting, high-floating line made using innovative technology to reduce friction, improve flotation, boost durability and repel water. You won't believe how good this fly line performs until you take it out and start casting. Microreplicated structures in the line reduce friction, improve floatation, boost dutrability, eliminate flare and repel water. When it comes time to shoot line, Sharkskin delivers effortless distance by reducing friction through the rod guides. The microtextured coating increases surface area and repellency, allowing the line to sit higher on the water. The improved water shedding also makes for effortless mending. Patented Advanced Shooting Technology (AST) chemistry combined with the line texture strenghten the coating durability. The textured surface also disperses light and reduces the chance of spooking fish.

Very Good
Date:
It is an excellent fly line. Much easier to roll cast than others I've tried. It hasn't damaged my fingers as mentioned in other reviews, but it is noisy going through the guides. It doesn't bother me. It may bother the fish. Still, I'd recommend it.

Great line
Date:
I bought the Trout Taper for my 4# TFO TiCr Signature. It casts like a rocket and I like the way it floats high on the water. Roll casting is a snap with this line. I raved about it so much I convinced my fishing buddy to buy one for his 5# Sage.
But when he came back from his fishing trip he was complaining about the cuts on his stripping hand. Since the majority of my fly fishing is in salt water I habitually use a stripping glove. I even pull it on for trout fishing so it isn\u2019t any surprise that I didn\u2019t have that problem. If it is a problem for you, consider using a glove.
I would still recommend the Sharkskin line and I am buying a 10# for my tarpon rod.

Great Line
Date:
I bought this line for my tfo 6wt and love it. I am a huge fan of fly lines with ridges in them like my last line, Airflo. I must admit that i like the sharkskin line more than the airflo ridgeline. It casts excellent and roll casts phenomenally. It makes a bit of noise as it passes through your guides, I personally dont mind at all. One thing that you should know, the line can cut your finger if used excessively. My solution was the gamakatsu finger stripper. It is hardly noticable and will save your finger. Basically buy the line and you will be 100% satisfied.

Great Line - believe the hype!
Date:
I got some WF for #7 line for my fast action 6wt rod a couple years ago, before they came out with the variety of tapers they have now. I think I'd like the GPX taper for #6 line more. Anyway, the line shoots and floats they they say it does and more. Here's the more:
It has very little memory without being too limp.
It roll casts very well.
Its design allows it to shoot well while it's taper allows for delicate presentation and good roll casts.
It is very durable!
I bought the DT #5 for my medium action 5 wt and WF #4 for my fast action 4 weight. I have been very happy with this line.
It is not as abrasive as people say!!
