Long-casting, high-floating Sharkskin™ is made using innovative technology to optimize performance, and this line is made for fishing big water and larger steelhead flies. The long head encourages long-range distance and control. Extended rear taper facilitates mending, pickups and smooth casting. Sharkskin delivers almost effortless long-distance casts by reducing friction through the rod guides. The microtextured coating increases surface area and repellency, allowing the line to sit higher on the water. This improved water shedding also makes for effortless mending. Patented Advanced Shooting Technology (AST) chemistry combined with the line texture strengthen the coating durability.

This line is by some margin the best floating (non-shooting head) line on the market, but appears not to be available in the U.K., or even Europe, despite huge popularity of the 8# and lighter lines.
I cannot fathom why Scientific Anglers have not tried to market the heavier lines for Scotland and Norway, where two-handed rods for salmon are the norm. I would go to five stars but for the horrendous price! (Airflo 'Ridge' line works very nearly as well in minimising surface contact with the rod guides and is available at approximately one-third of the price.) Cabela's mailing service was, as always prompt and efficient.

Just make sure you have a glove if stripping is going to be more than a hour or so. You will "cut" a nice slice in your finger otherwise.
