The Magnum taper powers big, wind-resistant flies through a stiff breeze with ease. Microreplicated structures in the Sharkskin™ line reduce friction, improve flotation, boost durability and repel water. When it comes time to shoot line, Sharkskin delivers effortless distance by reducing friction through the rod guides. The microtextured coating increases surface area and repellency, allowing the line to sit higher on the water. This improved water shedding also makes for effortless mending. Patented Advanced Shooting Technology (AST) chemistry combined with the line texture strengthen the coating durability.

Magnum Taper Rocks In the Wind

I recently went to Dutch John, Utah to fish the Flaming Gorge- Green River Tail Waters. We fished the A, B and C sections. There is no need for this line when you are in the A and B sections, the wind is not a large factor, when you are in the canyons, but when you hit the C section the wind starts howling and its hard to get anything out more than a few feet of fly line. With the Magnum taper not only was I getting light presentations with my small Green Drakes. I was getting long easy casts with a huge Cicada pattern with a large nymph dropper. The only down side I saw was I have very callussed hands and don't usually have problems with fly line cutting my skin, but two weeks later I still have line grooves in my pointer finger and thumb. Buy the Stripping Guard if you buy this line!! The Shark skin will tear up even the most callussed of hands.
