General Presentation Taper (GPX) is the ultimate all-purpose fly line. It's made a half-size heavier to better load fast- action rods. This weight-forward line excels at casting most flies in all types of conditions. Medium front taper with slightly oversized tip for high flotation and wind-slicing delivery when casting bigger flies. Microreplicated structures in the Sharkskin line reduce friction, improve flotation, boost durability and repel water. It delivers effortless distance by reducing friction through the rod guides. The microtextured coating increases surface area and repellency, allowing the line to sit higher on the water, resulting in easier mending. Advanced Shooting Technology(AST) chemistry strengthens the coating durability. Welded streamlined loop is slick and strong for easy connections and seamless fishing.

Poor Performance Sharkskin Line

So I finally broke down and bought a piece of this line a few weeks ago when it was on a big sale. Now I know why it was on sale.
Frankly, I am extremely disappointed and I have quickly moved it to the back of the fishing cabinet. Yes, I have a fast action rod which is supposed to be the best rod for this line. The line is noisy, clumsy, hard to control, shorter casting, and just plain disappointing. It is also harder to clean than more conventional lines and it eventually does abrade your fingers.
So think about it. If a rough surface is really so good for casting line, then why would such a concept not work well for airplanes and other aerodynamic devices? Of course it doesn't and rough surface airplanes are a long ago thing of the past. I hope this line joins them.
The positive: It showed me that the lines I have been using from SA and Wulff, and that cost considerably less, are the lines I should be happy with.

I just spent 4 days on the Henry's Fork in Idaho. We used extra long leaders from 12 to 14 feet. Using size 12 to size 18 dry flies on very flat water and spooky trout. The line performed extremely well. I fished all day some days and never had to dress the line once. It floats very high on the water all day long. In the afternoon some days saw gust of winds up to 20 mph and the shooting ability of the line was second to none. Best line I have ever used. A+++

Line for removing dead skin

The Good
Shoots great, line speed varies the sound going through the guides.
The Bad
If you have to use your fingers to control the line, you will find the abrasive texture of the line most unpleasant. I had to stop a largemouth bass from going into the weeds, the line removed quite a bit of skin.
The Ugly
Your fingers after a full day of casting.
