BIG disappointment!

As a big fan of Rio Gold, I decided to try the new Avid series on a back-up reel given the price break. As I completed winding the line on my reel, I discovered that the line model I bought does not have a welded loop, in spite of big letters on the box that state "Welded loop for fast rigging" , then in smaller letters ("in most lines"). Why a firm as prominent as Rio can't state on the box (in the "stamp section?) by line model which have loops and which do not is beyond me. I would never have bought the line had I known it did not have a welded loop.
To speed up changing leaders, I attached a Cortland loop and proceeded to fish the line. After about an hour of fishing, I noticed the line end at the loop starting to sink. Within another hour, the line end at the leader junction was plunging straight down. I cut the loop and tied the leader directly as in days of yore (I've been fly fishing for over 50 years) - still plunged.
I have emailed Rio of my experience but have not had the pleasure of a response.
My experience says avoid the new Avid lines entirely.
