The perfect complement to any shooting head. The ridges reduce surface friction to increase distance. The loose coils of line slide over each other easily to eliminate tangles. Low stretch power core and oversized flexi loop complete this line. Available:
This is a great running line for shooting heads. Floats well and bright orange color is easy to see even on extremely sunny days with excessive glare from water surface. I would buy it again and I would recommend to my friends.
As an avid warm water fly fisher, shooting heads are the mainstay of my fishing lines. Thus, a quality running line is a must to maximize casting distance.
The Airflow line runs through the guides easily and memory problems are minimal, but as it the case with all running lines this one has enough stiffness/memory that it does not lay flat all the time, and thus a loops/knots do occur on occasion, especially fishing from a float tube. Be aware this line does not stretch, so when it does develop a twist or doesn't lay flat, you will not be able to stretch it out.
All in all, while still not the dream line, it is by far one of the best running lines I've ever used.
Excellent running line - use mainly for Great Lakes Steelhead fishing. Could not figure out / understand the big loop they put on line, so, I just cut it off and rigged up as I usually do - cast very well, easy to mend.
They are used on/with my Spey lines, Rio AFS Spey Heads and Rio Skagit Heads.
I use the lighter weight Ridge Running line with my trout and lighter weight Spey Rods.
The heavier weight Ridge Running line is used with my heavier weight Spey Rods.
I use the new Mangrove Hipshooter/shooting line basket with my shoot head lines to hold the shooting line. The Ridge Running/Shooting lines have a lot less operator error than other Running/Shooting lines. One has been used in both hot and cold weather and the newer one only in colder weather. There are less coiling incidents while casting with the Ridge Lines particuliarily at higher or lower temps. The Ridge Running line combined with the Mangrove Hipshooter easily add one to two plus rod lengths of running line to each cast.
Supposedly, the Ridge Lines collect more dirt, scum and other stuff from the water versus other running lines. That has not been an issue in some dirty and algae filled waters.
After each fishing trip, I wash the lines on the spools with warm water and Ivory Bar Hand Soap. They are as good as new on the next trip.
