With Tipper Strike Indicators, the leader is secured with a twist of the rubber leader grabber, eliminating
leader-pinching pegs that can interfere with other tackle. Sizes:
I use the medium size in fishing for crappie and bluegill - makes depth adjustment much easier. Have had no problems with them coming off the line but are easy and quick to remove if you want to tight line. Eliminates line cutting and re-rigging.
First day, First 3 hours, I lost 2. They just fall off after multiple casts and drifs. I cut my line and put on my old, last cork indicator and used a tooth pick to hold it in place. When I got home, I took the rubber stoppers out of the Tippers and took some glue (I used Goop) and I sealed up the opening, but I had the indicator on some old line and I slid it up and down the line so it didn't seal the center hole. Now I have a typical indicator you must put on your line before your put on your fly that will slide up and down the leader. I use a toothpick to hold it in place where ever I want the distance to be from my fly. Now I like them, with this alteration in design (no rubber stopper and no slit all the way down the indicator).. I got the lime yellow color and the visibilty is very good.
I have purchased many of these Tippit Strike indicators in the past but this year they have changed the length of the rubber tube so it is harder to use and the diameter of the slit in the indicator is larger so the indicator won't stay on the line as well. I am looking or an alturnative!
