This classic English dressing is preferred by many fly-fishing veterans. It comes in two formulas that you can use to
your needs and tastes. Available: Regular, Silicone.
I have used the Mucilin and find that it works very well, line and leader float high on the water, however it is very tempture sensitive and melts in temps 80 degrees and above. Not sure what to do about that other than keeping it in a cooler.
You will lose your fly before it quits on you. Mucilin will outlast most float. I have used gink and all other fly floats. Mucilin is much thicker and stays on the fly longer. I prefer Mucilin because you can cast into the riffles all day. One thing of it will last for a very longtime. unlike other fly float you can glob on as much as you want and it wont sink your fly.
Somewhere i heard that this preparation was for fly lines made before plastic flylines....I think they used silk. Highly destructive to new state of the art flylines....Do some research first before using it!
