SureFire M6 High-Intensity Light

It uses six 3-volt lithium batteries in a quick-change magazine and a Millennium Xenon lamp assembly to produce up to 500 lumens of night-searing white light. And because it meets the needs of law-enforcement and military personnel who rely on their flashlights in life-and-death situations, you know it's one of the most reliable illumination machines available. To fulfill extreme-duty requirements, SureFire combined a virtually indestructible Pyrex™ window with double O-rings seals, high-grade aluminum alloys and a MilSpec Type III hard-anodized finish. Comes with both a high-output lamp rated for 250 lumens and an ultra-high-output 500-lumen lamp so you can customize it to suit your needs and battery supply. Located at the rear of the light are two virtually fail-proof switch systems - one continuous, one momentary. Lanyard and batteries included. 60- or 20-minute run time.

A great product , true quality like all sure fire lights. I own many different ones, They are all fantastic . Dependable & super bright. Its like a hand held spotlight. Which is perfect for longer distances.

OK, it is what it is. If you need a flashlight that will blow almost all other battery flashlights away, this is the one. Its small for the power that you get, and extremely rugged like all Surefire lights.
I have use my M6 in a couple of hunting situations when tracking lost deer in heavy woods. I carried a regular 2 cell Surefire and the M6 for backup when I needed to illuminate a large search area. The M6 proved invaluable for tracking at night
and gave more light than most of those huge rechargeable spot lights and I could carry the M6 in my coat pocket. It's a little smaller than a two, D cell, Mag Light but much lighter with its CR123 batteries.
If power in a small lightweight package is what you are looking for, this is it. The cost is high but you get what you pay for and the quality is there.
If I could change one thing , it might be to add an on off switch in the forward position. As it is, you have to leave it on (butt screwed in), or carry with the thumb to the rear grip. I do the latter and blip it on when I need to.
The M6 would also blind an intruder (although it takes about a quarter second to achieve full power).

THE BEAST ! THE VERY BEST OF THE VERY BEST !!!

This is an incredible light! Friends of mine refer to it as The Beast. It is about 32 times brighter than a 2 cell maglight, and you'll not find anything outside of some custom incandescent light, or a HID light which will equal it's power (except another model by Surefire which is rechargable.) It uses 6 CR123 batteries and will run for 20 minutes at 500 lumens, or switch to the lower output lamp (which you will have to switch out by removing the "bulb" and putting in the lower powered one) and you'll get one hour at 250 lumens. The thing to remember is you're getting what you pay for here. As far as intensity, you won't find anything else out there like it in a hand-held light. But you may find, as I have, that the lower-powered Surefires have similar intensity but not as large as a beam spread. As far as being an instant on unit to discourage a mugger, etc. the lamp takes about a quarter to half second to fully illuminate. The smaller lamps in other units are essentially instant on. It's also an expensive light to own and to "feed" as 6 batteries of this type will run you about 12 dollars or more for 20 minutes. So I don't use mine to go walking at night, etc. unless I use a smaller one and keep the M6 handy for looking way down a dark road, etc. This light is everything you think it could be and more. It's very powerful, rugged and reliable. It's also expensive to own and to keep it in batteries. Regarding buying it again, the jury is out for me. I have a M3 by the bed with an L1. The L1 is great for getting up in the middle of the night, etc. and the M3 provides plenty of immediate output. The M3 has a click switch option, which I added to the light where I can click it on and off. The M6 only has a momentary push on the rear of the tailcap. For a light this big it's somewhat awkward. It's also not instant on and not as handy as the M3. Owning about 10 Surefires, I could keep anything by the bed, but the M3 and the L1 is my choice. The M6 stays in the car in the event I have to see something like a street sign, a house number or find something lost in the grass at night. But, I don't use it for long periods and I have a custom strap for it (a duck call strap) as the lanyard loop which comes with it broke and fell off of it causing the light to drop to the floor. Luckily I was indoors and it didn't get beat up, but the supplied lanyard loop is wire which I don't trust. The duck call lanyard is secured in two places on the light and it's not going anywhere. If you purchase this light, you're getting the very best of the very best!
