Frog Hair Leader Tying Kit

The Frog Hair Leader Tying Kit offers everything you need to make your own hand-tied leaders with speed and efficiency. It includes 14 spools of leader, a retractable tape measure, a how-to guide and a leader-tying tool. This kit includes enough strong, extra-supple Frog Hair material to tie more than 100 10-foot leaders. Leader selection includes sizes 7X through 0X, .013, .015, .017, .019, .021 and .023. The instructional guide includes formulas with precise length and sizing instructions. The tying tool makes quick and easy work of connecting leader sections using blood knots or double uni-knots. The kit comes packed in a molded polystyrene box that keeps the materials conveniently organized.

Great Tool

Tying my own leaders using this tool has improved my fishing experience. Knotted leaders seem to rollover better than tapered and when they break or are used they can be repaired and re-used.

Frog Hair Tying Kit

I love the frog hair monofiliament, and the tying instructions and leader formulas are great, and the addition of a tape measure is a great touch. There is a $30 knot tying unit included that is harder to use than just tying the knots by hand. I would have preferred to spend $20 less for the kit without the knot-tyer. Next time, I will just buy the Umpqua kit.

This is a great deal and a great package. The tool, although almost ridiculously basic, is very useful and I find it handy even though I'm used to tying blood knots by hand. The expiration dates on all spools are far into the future as normal. The only issue I have is that my kit was missing a spool of tippet, but the great customer service folks at Cabela's are helping me out with that. If it weren't for that error, I might have given it a five.
