At 580 lumens on high (10 lumens on low), this super-powered, battery-operated lantern is the brightest Coleman currently offers. Uses four Cree 7090 XR-E Emitter LEDs. Infinitely adjustable dial for multiple output settings from ultralow to high. Base unscrews without requiring tools for easy access to battery compartment. Weather-resistant construction. 75-hour run time on low. 8-hour run time on high. Powered by eight D-cell batteries (not included).
Bought two of these lanterns for hunting camp this year. I used them with my dual-fuel coleman lantern. With the three, we had excellent light throughout the cabin. Battery life was much better than expected with plenty remaining after 75 hours. Tough too! My hunting partner knocked one off the hanging nail and it smashed to the floor with batteries scattered. Put all back in place and it operated flawlessly, Try that with a conventional gas lantern.
Have you ever woke up in the middle of the night in your tent and had to feel around for a flashlight so you can search for something that you need or just go to the bathroom? This lantern within armshot of your bed gives you the closest thing to a light switch to light up your whole tent you are likely to find. In addition the 580 Lumens lit up half our camp site during the several hours we sat around the campfire. I don't believe it should supplant your 1580 Lumen propane gas light but it makes a versatile second light that is ideally suited for the tent or camp trailer. I would say this is a must have. Get it, but don't be fooled by the lesser powered lamp coleman also produces. Look for the LED HP.Also it would be excellent for power outages at home. VERY Versatile!!
We have always had a propane lamp to use while camping. The LED lamp is an excellent upgrade from our previous propane lamp. You can controll the level of light from very dim to very bright. We used our lamp for three weeks straight while camping and the batteries never needed to be changed. I would highly recommend this lamp to anyone. The only downside is the price, but given the quality and brightness of the LEDS. It was worth the investment.
I do a lot of ice fishing at night and needed a lantern to illuminate the inside of the tent. I was looking for an alternative to a propane lantern since I also use a Buddy heater and was concerned about excessive fumes. This lantern is the best on the market. The light is very bright and well constructed. It easily lights up the front of a two man tent. No mantles or fuel to worry about. When you are done with it, no cool down is required before putting it away. I always use the lantern on high and have gotten 10 hrs of run time.
