No more fumbling for hard-to-find spring buttons. Frabill has developed a net handle that telescopes without fumbling to match buttons and holes. Simply extend it to your desired length and turn the cam-lock handle to lock it tightly. Net stays in perfect alignment. Dual EVA cushioned grips ensure no-slip handling even when wet. Nets are made of tangle-free dipped poly (20" x 23" is rubber). Available:
this net worked great on my 21 ft. boat on lake eries central basins large walleyes. we would extend the net so we could reach out and get the eyes then retract and store it out of the way.
I fish from a dock that experiences tidal changes of up to 7ft. The net works great, easy to extend, and can handle some pretty large fish. Definetly would recommend to anyone.
I have a small Frabill net with the plastic "netting". It is great in that hooks and lures do not get tangled in the netting and the overall quality is excellent. However, the plastic netting simply adds too much weight to the net to be used one-handed while landing a fish. If you always have an extra person with you....go for it.
I have contacted both Frabill and Cabela's and suggested they add an overall weight to their discription.
The rubberized net is a great idea. I would prefer to go with the clear or "ghost" rubber rather than the black as I think trout would be less agitated by something less visible coming up from beneath them. Of course, if you intend to eat the trout it wouldn't much matter; but, if you believe in releasing your trout friend as I do, you might want to make the experience as calming as possible. My only reservation has to do with the way the basket connects to the telescoping handle. It is kept from turning solely by the depressible button that holds the basket on the handle. An octagonal connection where they come together as well as the button to keep it from slipping off would provide more stability.
