This powerful U.S. inland and coastal mapping reference has four times better resolution than standard Insight packages for close-in (down to 100 ft.) 3-D viewing. Detailed contour lines precisely show drop-offs, humps, submerged islands and channels. It also features Fishing Hot Spots information on more than 500 lakes, including where to fish, popular local fishing techniques, onshore facilities and other timesaving information. There’s ample memory space available on the card to save valuable GPS and sonar data without the need for a separate SD card.

Lake Insight HD chip

In many areas the 3d effect is really nice. Makes it so easy to understand the shapes and contours of bottom structures. In the great lakes it is best in locating deep structures. There are areas where the definition is not the greatest though. Thunderbay in Alpena ,Michigan is not high definition. Saginaw Bay is not high definition. Lake Superior is not good definition at all. Disappointing becaues I do fish some there. Surprisingly, the build in Insight usa in my HDS7 unit has better detail than the chip in Lake Superior. Go figure? Where it is good it is really cool. Recommend that you go to a store where you can put the chip in a demo unit to make sure the detail is good where you plan to use it.
