Don't let the handsome look of these knives fool you. They're wonderful to behold, but built to be used. Blades are flat-ground 5Cr15Mov stainless steel strong and able to hold an edge through the field-dressing process. File work atop the tangs and a finger stop in front of the rounded handles ensure a comfortable grip. Zebra wood handle panels with pinned construction. Comes with a leather sheath and a leather lanyard sporting the Gerber logo.

Very nice knife. Small like a caper should be. Read the product description, this is not a hunting knife, it is a caper. As for the steel, if you know how to put a good edge on a knife, it will stay there for a while. Does not dull quickly! Another quality made product from Gerber and carried by THE Foremost Outfitter, Cabela's! You will not be disappointed if you are looking for a good caping knife.
I bought this caping knife because it looked nice in the photo and I like the file work on the spine. It also claims to be made of the same steel I have on a French made folding knife that is so sharp you really have to watch out when opening and closing it.
I needed a fixed blade knife while out in the woods for heavier tasks than my folder was made for. This caping knife felt like a toy, and the sheath was about as well done. Look, I needed a real knife, so I ordered the Freeman S30V, not the little caping one but the big one. This knife is sold by other outlets for less, but I could not find the Cocobolo handle or the tungsten carbide coating, so I don't know if I'd be getting the S30V steel either. I'm picky, but this was an easy return, I hope the Freeman doesn't disappoint too . . .
