mark3030's review is right on the money. the knife is beauriful. the sheath is worthless. but who needs a sheath for a steak knife? i'm in my 60's and have yet to wear a steak knife on my belt. i bought 8 of these knives for table use. their ebony handles and stag bolsters are handsome and their blades are well-designed and sharp. if i entertain dinner guests with odd senses of humor, i'll put the knives on the table in their sheaths (assuming i haven't yet thrown them away.) otherwise, i have no use for the things.
The Good: 1. The knife is beautiful. The overall shape, and the selection of materials, adds up to a really great looking knife. They're all made in China now, so get used to it. 2. The blade is really sharp. 3. The knife feels solid. It does not feel like a cheap knife. The feel of the handle is good in my hand.
The Bad: (Note: The filters disallow an appropriate adjective to adequately describe the quality of the sheath) 1. The Sheath is a joke. The leather used is really cheap and thin, and the blade doesn't fit properly. 2. The sheath does not have a loop to retain the handle, so the overall package is not very secure. 3. There is no belt loop with which to secure the sheath. The flap on the front is designed to allow the wearer to put the sheath in a pocket, but keep the sheath from dropping all the way to the bottom of the pocket. I will not carry this kife in such a way, and you won't either, probably. I know a guy that does leather work. Maybe I'll have him make one for me. Or, I could probably make a better sheath, even though I've never made one before.
Verdict: Buy the knife, throw away the sheath and get one that fits right and will hold the knife securely.
