Not good for pocket knives with small blades
Date:
I bought this system to sharpen my whittling knives, and it simply will not work with small blades especially at anything less than a 22* angle. It worked well enough on a large French knife from the kitchen, but to say the least I am dissapointed and may send it back. Unless you own nothing but large heavy bladed knives, I would reccomend you spend your money on something else. The clamp doesn't hold knives well, the clamp gets in the way with any small blade, and my knives that I could sharpen are really no sharper than I could get them freehand.

Great Product for all knives
Date:
If you read the directions it tells you how to mount knives properly depending on the size of the knife. You don't have to mount every knife in the little groove at the end of the clamp.
I have sharpened everything from my Kershaw Chive (19°), two different sized fillet knives, and the largest knife out of the kitchen knife block.
However if you want to sharpen a smaller blade width knife on the lowest two angles (15° & 11°) you will be hitting the clamp. This is why I gave it four stars.
The ceramic finishing stone that comes with this kit is awesome.
My knives are all razor sharp thanks to this kit.

Good stones
Date:
I have both this and the Lansky system. I use the stones from this system with the clamp from the Lansky. I also bought the Gatco ceramic stone which works great to finish the edge. I can easily obtain a razor sharp edge on my hunting knives.
The diamond stones do a great job on tough steel (D2, 154CM, S30V). However, the Gatco clamp is not nearly as good as the Lansky clamp. There is too big of a gap where the clamp actually clamps the blade. The Lansky clamp does not have this problem. I also prefer the angles on the Lansky clamp.
My only issue with my current set-up is that it does not work on traditional pocket knife blades because the stone contacts the clamp instead of the blade edge. Basically, the blade does not protrude away from the clamp enough to allow the stone to contact the edge of the blade. I'm currently considering the Spyderco type system since it should work with any blade size.
To sum it up:
If you want to sharpen traditional pocket knife blades, then I would look elsewhere.
If you want to sharpen typical hunting knife sized blades with softer steel (i.e. 440), then I would recommend the Lansky system.
If you want to sharpen typical hunting knife sized blades with harder steel (i.e. D2, S30V, 154CM), then I would recommend this system.
