I got this for my mother who is recently widowed and she does not sharpen her own knives. This unit does the job and is simple enough for most folks to be able to use it with some success. It is really a simple grinder with diamond dust grinding wheel with angled guides. After reading the directions and working over a couple of my mothers well worn kitchen knives I was able to get some decent sharp edges on them fairly quickly. The only reason I do not grade this with more stars is I sharpen all my knives by hand on a stone or strop and it goes against my nature to use a grinder to sharpen any knife. But not everyone can hand sharpen their knives so this product is adequate.
