This sharpner is so easy it is very hard to to make a mistake. Because it will work on both types of blades it will eliminate having two types of sharpeners. Leaves the blades as sharp if not sharper than the origional new blade. Very pleased.
I have been using the Chef's Choice 460 sharpener for years, and I have found that it does an excellent job of sharpening knives. Additionally it does an excellent job of repairing a damaged edged as well. Recently, I had to work out a knick in the edge of a CRKT folding knife knife I use fairly regluarly. After 50 or so passes with the corse sharpener the knick was almost completely ground out to my surprise!!! Another 30 passes it was completely gone. Another 30 passes with the fine side made the edge razor sharp. It is very easy to use, most importantly it repetitively sharpens an edge at the same angle time and time again (which I feel is a key to sharpening a knife). Perhaps, dollar for dollar one of the best purchases I ever made from Cabelas.
This is a very good sharpener and I like it alot. I gave it 4 stars just because it does not put an edge on a knife as fast as package claims it does. It does put a very sharp edge on the kinfes, just not as fast as they make it out to.
I got this sharpener after reading all or most of the reviews for this sharpener on several websites. I'm glad I bought it because my kitchen knives were in need of sharpening. I don't use this on my pocket knives because it doesn't leave as smooth of an edge as my other sharpeners but if this is all I had then I wouldn't be upset. It was night to day afer using this on my kitchen knives, although I did practice on an older set of knives before I used it on the nicer ones. I didn't give it 5 stars because there are better sharpeners out there but cost more. If it provides the best edge on a blade then it gets a 5 star rating. This one does not. Overall I would recommend this for it's quality, portability and functionality.
