Excellent Mixer

I produce and enjoy two or three hundred pounds of sausage and forcemeats per year and this mixer is wonderful at saving frozen fingers and eliminating inadequately distributed spices. Although it will handle 20 pounds I find the ideal weight to be approximately 15 pounds, but the efficiency is more than adequate for my usage. For those who process larger quantities regularly, the larger model or electric attachment (to the grinder) would be appropriate. And Cabela's customer service was exemplary when the unit needed replacing due to a minor defect from the factory. I cannot say enough for their courteous and FAST management of the problem.

Great Mixer

I use this to mix venison and ground beef. Also just used it to mix a 15 lb. batch of summer sausage. It is a real time saver. Used to have to mix by running thru the grinder twice. Now I grind the deer meat once and then use the mixer. Much easier to clean up than the grinder.

This mixer does not live up to the reputation of high quality that Cabela has. It is well constructed but does not mix the meat but rather just moves it around the container. It does work best when full rather than partially full but its performance is far from satisfactory. I ended up mixing the meat with the spices by hand in a plastic tub. It is also very hard to get the meat out of the mixer. Not a tool you want. One star is too many.
