Very good product for the price!

I recently purchase the 40LM to replace an aging unit. I like alot of the up to date features this has compared to my old unit. I traveled to a remote area in Ca. and had no issues at all. I also used this unit in Kanasas city with excellant results. I was actually buying another unit for my wife, when I read this review. I thought I should comment, I will purchase another after posting this. I would recommend this unit. I travel every week for my job and I have not found any issues. One side note: DO NOT LEAVE THE MOUNTING CLIP IN THE RENTAL CAR,
THEY ARE NOT CHEAP!!!!!!

Very disapointed.

I bought one ..actually 3, on 3-30-12. And naturally once I got it outside of Cabelas and in the car I set it up. I noticed right away the sound was not working so I took it back in and exchanged it. Customer service in East Hartford was great and they indicated that many of these models had the same problem. I exchanged it for another and went back out. This one had a large noticeable scratch on the front housing and was not acceptable to me considering it was new and not previously opened. I switched it out again. Now onto the 3rd unit.. took this one outside set it all up, it looked ok, sound works and I then program in my address and I then went on my way. Mounted on the windshield no obstructions etc.. this unit was telling me to take a side street ..a right out of the main road onto the town road even though I was going onto the highway which was right in front of me. I continued onto the highway, and it finally recalculated. on my way home I was not pleased with the way this model "spoke". Coming to an exit or when taking a right or left turn, it would double speak.."take a right, right" or "take a left,left". I was not happy with that.
Finally got into my driveway and parked in front of the garage and its still telling me I was not at my destination. It said I still had 400 feet to go. After deciding to take this one back i ran some errands around town first and this thing was a joke.. telling me to go routes that are further and which took more time.
Do not buy one of these Garmins.. if you do you will see.
I took it back again.. 3rd unit taken back today.

I then went to another store and bought a Magellen which works perfectly and even looks and feels sturdier. Even the way its packaged.. with the Garmin it was basically put in a box and sealed with a piece of tape, the Magellen was packaged nicely in plastic bubble wrap to protect it then the box was wrapped in plastic and sealed nicely.
Sorry for the long story.. I just don't want anyone else to waste 3 hours of their day like I did. Cabelas owes me on this one.
