    Have had the 9640 for 6months now. This is my 3rd radar detector; the others were <$100. Pros: great sensitivity, excellent for highway driving. Usually picks up 1mile out on straightaways and 1/2-3/4mile on curves/hills (about 5-10seconds if you are going 65). Automute works great, engine rev feature works great, emergency vehicle detector actually does work. Laser has never false alarmed; it will pick up about 1/4mile out but as with all lasers they have you by then. Cons: poor selectivity, city mode terrible; yes it does filter out X and K band, but that is because it calls every signal a Ka hit. I got rid of my previous detector because it constantly picked up X band, now this one hits in the same spots, but since it reads it as a "Ka" hit the city mode won't filter that out; Compass does not work; POP mode falses a lot. Summary: for the highway nothing is better for the money. For the city it literally goes off the entire 25mile drive to work (KC highway drive to downtown), so if you do a lot of city driving spend the money for a better model.
