Probe works fine if you can keep the water out of it. I am a bit locked in on this item as it is installed on my boat. Works great when not full of water. The inside should be potted to keep the water out of the electronics when, not if, it leaks.

The sub troll system is one of the best tools in a successful great lakes trolling program. Combined with a good sonar and you are dailed in! I fish for salmon and trout in Lake Ontario and the under water currents constantly change. The sub troll lets you know what the true trolling speed is at the downrigger depth which gives you the ability to adjust your speed for proper lure control! THis makes a HUGE difference in how many fish you catch.
My original probe was working great until it broke off my downrigger. I am glad Cabelas had a replacement unit avaiable !THe replacement system was very easy to re-install and I love it!
