6 man clam command post ice shelter
Date:
I recently purchased a clam 6 man and have used it 3 times and now the inside coating is coming off. you can see right through the shelter. two of the eyelets have come out and had to fix them, have replaced the tie-down ropes and the sewing is poor. can see where they sewed a pocket on crocked and then took it off and put it back on. Would not buy it if i had read this first.

i have had several fishing shelters . this was my second tent type shelter i really liked my 6x6 4 man frabil . me and my cousin thought it would be nice to have a larger hut for times we fish with our kids so we could all use 1 hut ,and fish together.we took it out first ice to check it out . it set up nice and easy and had the room we wanted. it however seemed to be pretty flimsy. fiberglass poles are not heavy enough and pore construction in the middle where the two sides and roof come together tore where the poles meet.first time out on a nice day.hope clam will stand behind this product because warrenty states that isn't warenteed against tears.i dont think this product is intended for outdoor use.as i stated before this was a nice day and we know how conditions can be out on the ice. this tent will not hold up under any bad weather days.

STAY AWAY!
Date:
I have 7 other ice shelters, 4 that have proven to be durable, stable in high winds, and built to last. The other three I have been somewhat dissatisfied with, either I have had problems with the zippers or the material that they are made of tearing or coming apart at the seams - needless to say, with these three I have had constant repairs. Above all, the Clam Command Post has proven to be the most troublesome. The material that it is composed of is weak. The construction of this ice shelter is poor, to include the way the seams have been joined, and mostly the way the fiberglass poles are affixed to the shelter with small, weak velcro straps - which are unable to support the size of this shelter even on a calm day. I have used this shelter on calm and stormy days, and have found that the Clam Command Post will not withstand a strong wind. The problem being that, even with securing this shelter completely with anchors, the fiberglass poles that are needed to support this shelter are too weak, and tend to flex and bend in the wind, eventually finding their way out of the thin material used to affix these poles. Eventually, the small velcro attachments pull and tear free from the shelter's material, causing the Clam Command Post to fail miserably. Needless to say, after mother nature has had her way with this shelter, it is not a joy folding it back up and trying to place it back into its carry case - a nightmare on the ice during a stormy day. I would not recommend this poorly constructed, expensive shelter to anyone. Stay away!
