I've used this pack on an elk hunt, mt. goat hunt, and just going out camping. It balances well and is incredibly durable. It almost seems like a magic trick the amount of stuff you can crame in there. The exterior rifle clips are hugely useful when hiking up steep terrain. Also, it has a great many outside straps that are very long which come in handy to attach antlers or trophy horns etc. It takes a lot of abuse handily. It also has a great removable interior organiser to put any emergency med kits or chotchkies. Great pack overall.
I use this pack exclusively. It carries a heavy load comfortably up steep inclines. The rifle tie down is handy allowing hands free climbing. The many pockets make it easy to stay organized. The only draw back is that it gets hot on my back causing perspiration, giving the game I am stalking an extra advantage.
I purchased the HornHunter Mainbeam pack before going on a wilderness elk hunt in 2009 . the pack is very comfortable to wear and carried everything that I needed for the allday hunt plus extra things in case of an overnite. All of the pockets are handy as everything does not end up in the bottom of the pack making them easier to find.
very sturdy and comfortable. love the rifle straps, comes in very handy when you need both hands. The straps on the bottom are great too. Plenty of extra small pockets.Used this pack one season of deer hunting in VA and it holds everything I need for a day hunt and possibly and overnighter.
