Ive been using this pack in the Northern Territory, Australia, Its comfortable and breaths well in the tropics. It has enough carriage space for all the kit I need for day trips. The only thing that could improve the pack is a better system to manage the excess cord on the straps and a larger hole for the camel back tube.
I purchased the Spot and Stalk Pack almost two years ago and loved it, except for the poorly made zippers. Had problems the second season with the pack. I contacted Game Plan Gear to try and fix the pack. I really didn't think I would get any help due to the fact I purchased it so long ago. I was wrong. They sent me a brand new pack with the updated zippers. Their customer service is excellent.
I purchased this pack prior to an archery elk hunt in New Mexico in Sept. 2010. Having read the reviews prior to purchase, I was aware of possible problems with the zippers. Luckily, these didn't occur until my home archery season, and it was somewhat minor. Knowing that it may be a problem, I purchased the replacement plan and was able to get a new pack that has the updated zippers (available on the current models). I had no difficulties with this pack as we hiked 4-6 miles per day. The only two considerations for use with this pack are: 1) if your hike/hunt ends in a treestand, make sure you have 2 hangers so you can position the pack and quiver for easy arrow access without have to "clip" the pack to your tree. 2) if your arrows are wrapped/dipped, purchase some form of cover as the movement while walking "looks like you're waving a flag" as my guide put it. Otherwise, this pack was comfortable, had plenty of space (carried lunch, H2O bottles, rain gear. and some gear in back and range finder and wind indicator in small front pocket), and was comfortable to shoot with, while fully packed. It was nice to just grab the pack and bow and go!
On my first outting with this pack I quickly realized that it was not made for any length of walking. The shoulder strap started to cause a lot of pain down my left arm and in my neck. I also had a problem with the zipper breaking. In addition to that the pouch inside the pack for a hydration bladder was too small for most bladders, and the hole was not big enough for an insulated hose to pass through it.
